A Black History Fact: UNITY IS PROGRESS
In 1975, Ivan Butcher II, Harlem-born artist, designed and copyrighted, The Black Evolutionary American Flag, with the Library of Congress.
With the approaching 1976 Bicentennial celebrations, Butcher realized that the media was ignoring the legacy of Black (African American) contributions made toward the accomplishments of this nation, not to exclude the sacrifices of the Native Americans (Indians).
