Emerson (Emmy) Macy peddled hard, almost to exhaustion, like two car pistons as he motored around the Laurel Mist sub-division. Sweat dripped from his forehead and splattered onto the sidewalk--leaving wet spots.
The constant humming rang in his ears as the mysterious noise made its daily blasts. Some people heard the sound and some could not. The people who heard the sound usually wound up dead. Emerson peddled harder and harder searching for the sound. . .
