I am married to a soldier, but the flag is not displayed in my home. Actually we don't even own one. We know that we are Americans.
Dahlen,
I have a flag at the house and I can't tell you the strange looks I get from all sorts of people.
We fight, die, loss limbs, buy property, own business...overcame slavery! Why shouldn't you be proud of our accomplishment as part of the American experience. We won the war! There are still battles to fight...but we are part of America too.
We (I) act the fool when southerners display the Rebel flag. "Hey...you guys lost the war, get rid of that flag". So what flag do we want them to wave? And why again don't we want to wave that same flag?
I don't own an America flag. But even it her sin, America, in my opinion, is still the greatest country in the world, I would not want to live any other place! I am proud to be an American, but at the same time, not afraid or to proud, to admit that she has her flaws, just as any other nation does. "God, (please) bless America, land that I love, stand beside and her, and guide her..." This is my prayer for America. But, now that you mention it, I may go and purchase an American flag...Hey! Is everyone ready for the Olympic games?
No
No. Maybe in my next life when I become more evolved.
Disagree!! I wish people would stop taking Michelle's comment out of context. IF you grew up in an age where Black people couldn't sit down to eat in a restaurant, or had to attend different schools, or newly integrated schools, of course you'd be proud when your country got beyond this and to the point where they may actually be willing to vote for someone who is not Anglo-Saxon.
On the other hand, Mikkel seems very "anti-Black' on account that no one has said anything about what white people have and have not done. He never said he was NOT proud, he said he would be SUPER proud. He is already has pride in his country that will only increase should Obama win. A country that someone would be willing to be proud of would have no issue with color, there have been white presidents for years, but clearly America is a 'melting pot' meaning other races should have the opportunity.
Forgive me for the tangent, that post annoyed me. Many of the men in my family are in the service so of course we have flags. We rarely have them out because of the constant bringing them in and out because of the weather (rain and such) but they are defiantly out during Memorial Day and the 4th.
I do not especially traveling out of the country. It isn't safe & I become a target.
We get one in the local paper every week. It looks like a book cover. We pasted it to a piece of cardboard to cover up a hole in the window blinds, and everyone can see it next to my front door. It's paper and not cloth, but the sentiment is still there.
Mikky! I thought you lost your will to speak! Still hatin' I see. What part of "Possitive" do you not understand? Everyone is entitled to their oppinion. And everyone has one! You included. Oppinions are like a**holes, everyone's got one and they usually stink. Excuse my French! It is very difficult to listen to what you have to say, when it sounds so full of guile and disgust. I suppose you won't respond, cuz you didn't the last time I rebuked your untamed tongue. Besides, you didn't answer the first man's question, do you own/display an american flag? Or were you blindsided by the oppinions expressed, instead. FOCUS!!!! on the possitives. You so cranky!
To everyone else, I appologize for his lack of respect and unrully tongue. Forgive him, for he obviously knows not what he does!
