Blacks and Police

Whenever African Americans have encounters with law enforcement, it tends to be a very touchy subject.

Do you feel like there is a general distrust of law enforcement in our communities? If so, is it warranted?

Is the prevalence of crime in our communities worsened by the fact that many Blacks are uncomfortable or unwilling to go to the police when crimes occur?

I am a police officer, and I feel that the community should work with the police.

Brother I understand why you feel like the community should work with the police, but I also think that the police should work with the people, you know that you are a minority on the force, and that your power is limited to what they allow you to do. when qas the last time you caught a kid in the act and said man why are you ruining youf life, and let him go. the police are known to jack you up send you to jail give you a record that makes it hard or impossible to get a job come on man! it like watching the black prosicuter on the documentary. I wanted to be a police officer I bought into the crime nerver pays idealogy but I could not hurt my people that way nor watch while others do so. It takes a special person to do that. don't get me wrong I admire you for having a job that won't lay you off just when you need the money and put you out in the streets trying to figure out how to feed your family. what happen to the beat cop that was thier to make you feel safe. wait! scratch that we never had that guy. why am i being hard on a brother? and I want you to know that I do love you ! brothers, but It's like talking to those that were used to catch the slaves for the old slave ships
