YOU'RE TOO OLD ......WHEN?

YOU'RE TOO OLD ......WHEN?

Growing OLD... Aging. We are all doing it every second. From the moment of our conception, birth we are aging. We go thru from baby to toddler, to pre-schooler and then to pre-teen all the way up to adulthood. We are aging. Often, we gain wisdom and knowledge in our life's path and sometimes we learn --sometimes we don't learn anything. We repeat cycles of life and we have times when we make changes.

While speaking the other day, I encountered conversation with a woman who admired what I was doing. She made a statement saying, "I've always loved writing and I should of been a writer, but now I'm too old." I thought that I should correct her, because I can remember often how I too thought the same thing. I simply told her quickly, she was not too old at all.

When exactly is one too old? If you have the determination to pursue something that you've been wanting to do, I feel there is no age limit. There is a time for all things even in aging--we are permitted to still make decisions and selections of what we would like to do. Perhaps, it is good to start early, but in many cases it is not always so. I've heard many tell me not to start a writing career, that I was too old, and that I could not become a writer at my age. Did I listen? No. I wanted to write, and I was determined to give it a try. I simply refused to allow the state of aging limit my potentials in what I truly enjoyed doing.

How do you know if you're too old? It is WHEN all your teeth decay, and you have to replace them with dentures? It is WHEN you start to lose your 20/20 vision and wear eyeglasses? It is WHEN you feel those little aches and pains in you knees, back or shoulder? Is it WHEN you take a little longer to remember where you put your car keys? Is it WHEN you''ve forgotten what you did on yesterday?

Often, many of us don't think much on aging and growing old, we all want to be youthful for the remaining of our lives. Many of us we are too seldom as wise, more foolish while we are young. We are young, undecisive and carefree about what we want to contribute while we live. When we grow older that's when we regard living more as a gift instead of a freedom. However, age will teach the appreciation in both being a gift, and being a freedom .

An older gentleman said to me just yesterday. I asked him how was he feeling he replied...." Oh, I seen better days, but I've seen some much worse." He was thankful for his old age and he seemed content. He had found peace in aging. I was given a thought you're too old ......When you cannot recognize the beauty in your senior man or woman, and know someday if you keep living that senior citizen will be you.

Do all you can to help others, and if you still find what you really enjoy doing... Do it even in your old age.

Pleasant Thoughts to You.
Smiles,
MIISRAEL

You're too old when you go to the club and the age limit is 18 to 21 & up...and when you notice you're the oldest one there. LOL

I think I agree with Dee and Clarence. There are no age limits when you are capable of completing the task.

...to accomplish anything...it's never too late and you're never too old.

Blessings...

Avis, I agree with you. There are limits. :)

You are too old when you feel too old, but I don't think there is ever an age limit when it comes to your dreams as long as you have that drive and the tenacity to get it accomplished, go for the gusto. There are no limits (including age) to your successes in life, what ever those successes may mean to you.

YOU ARE TOO OLD WHEN YOU ARE DEAD! When you loose the ability to move communicate, breathe and be, you are too old. As long as you are alive and still breathing (or not breathing so much [asthmatics]) , if your heart is still beating, you good. You still have power to dream. GB

I have a mantra I live by, "As long as I am breathing there is always a chance to change." Now I will never be able to achieve that NBA career I missed out on but there are so many other mountains to climb, challenges to face, that I can't see wasting too much time lamenting what I didn't do when there are so many things I can do.
