Are you the bird or the statue today?

Are you the bird or the statue today?

We all make mistakes, many of which, we seem to have been absent when we made them.
If you were to see the look on my face when I asked the question, what would your response have been?
How often do we get mad at sister so-n-so because she bobbed her head when she said, "have a blessed day"? When we SEE her say, "you don't deserve it".
At what point do we get past the "You do your thing, I'll do mine" to what is really important? Doing a new thing?
I had the privilege to be a part of a conversation here this morning. One person saying to another that an a** whoopin' was needed. I found that they both needed a switch. One moreso than the other.
Why do we threaten someone who tries to get in our way? Or have we become so absent minded? Just because someone "gets in the way" doesn't tell us they are against us!
We are all on our way somewhere, right? Thank God we aren't where we used to be. We may not be there yet, THEREFORE don't get so overambitious that you burn potential bridges down, just cuz you can't see the need for it where you're at right now.
There is a HUGE gap to cross ahead! It may require that we hold hands with someone we would rather not! just to make it to the other side of the chasm.

AT WHAT POINT DO WE STRETCH OUT AND BECOME MORE THAN THE BIRD OR STATUE? The park it's in, perhaps? The grass or the flowers? Thestreets, the news, the air?

We tend to walk around here with our feelings and emotions on our sleeves and get mad when someone passes by us and bumps into our feelings and emotions. We lash out at each other like vipers! Spitting venom with no real proof that the interruption is harmful in intent.

Give one another the benefit of the doubt! Admit when you may have jumped too high too fast, with too little information and understanding.

At some point the dog will bite the tail he chases. Question is, will it hurt enough to stop doing it?

If you are the bird, remember there are people out there that will shoot you for being a nuisance.
If you are the statue, Bless you for standing strong and turning the other cheek, but don't just stand there letting the sh** stains on you tell others how much it hurts.

The bird on the statute analogy is right on point. I call it the wallflower child. We just sit there, watching everything going on around us and do nothing. But that bird sure does complain a lot. How can you complain about something being wrong if you do nothing to try and change it?

I am reminded of the old principle of it taking a village to raise a child, whether that child is a grown adult or not. We all need a helping hand, a little direction sometime. But unfortunately, we don’t help our fellow brothers and sisters. We get so self-absorbed in our own lives that we do not take the time to help others. And then for many people who do want to help, they display the WIIFM attitude – WIIFM = What’s In It For Me. And then there are some people who reach out to others trying to help when what they really are doing is being evil, or like you said their goal is nothing more than to spit venom.

Maybe this world would be better if we all would just exercise a little more kindness toward each other.
