I Don't Know About You?...., but Early Voting Makes Me Nervous

Thursday, a group of women and men I know, took time out to go to the early voting polls. They beckoned me to attend with them, but I refused to go with the group! No, it wasn't because I didn't want to vote, I do and I will. I chose however, not to go with them. I realize the importance of voting and how such a priviledge it is to vote freely. I will vote, but I elected to wait. Early voting makes me "uneasy". I have become this way because of the last presidential election when as you might recall down in Florida so many early voting ballots were not accounted for and not considered! They were tossed out, many lost or maybe they were mishandled. I don't want to take a chance with that happening again? I'm just being careful --if you will in my own opinionated way. I know many have already decided to vote early, and have already done so. I will wait though-- and vote on election day. I want to share it with my son, who is voting for his first time as a memorable moment and I am glad it's in a presidential election. I don't know about you?...but early voting makes me nervous. What about you? Do you think it's really safe to vote early in the upcoming election? It occurred to me too, that the "factor of voting" overwhelms many who do not vote at all. Not just early voting, "the whole concept of voting" They simply may be frightened of the whole idea of voting. They might have the disbelief that their voting will not matter, or that it's already fixed in the polictical arena. Who can really tell if there is honesty in counting votes? We can only suppose it is a honest process and that the outcome will be handled in trust and truth. Still, I hope undecided voters will vote, and those who feel overtaken by the process, make a change to do it anyway...

Thanks Clarence! I will cast my vote. I really didn't understand what happened in Florida, you've cleared that up for me as well.

Early voting frightens me also. I have seen the inside of a few different government agencies and corruption, neglect and apathy run amok. I'll be in the loooong line on Nov 4. where there will be more eyes on exactly what is happening.

Thanks Elynor, I have done just that! I just prefer to wait. So, Allen I see you can relate to why I'm waiting, thought I might be alone....I'll be in the long line too. It's quite exciting in some strange and alluring way. Thanks to you both for your comments... Is there anyone else? (Smiles)

Only worry about those things you have control over because when it voting time, votes will be lost, stolen, etc. so let us just pray that they lose more of John McCains than Obama.

You're so right! I stand corrected! Thank you.

You'll forgive my selfishness? I hope? I only want to enjoy my birthday (Nov. 4), and let the "electoral college" cast it's own vote. I know you all will vote for the right man to lead us. I'm just ready for it to be over with and done. Like, can we please talk about something else for a little while. Again, though, I'm being selfish. May the best man win and get this country back on track. Both parties has me irked about an issue or 2,3...20! Not all bad, at least I get a new president for my birthday, right?!!!

Well, it's really important we vote. Early or Not. I've prayed over this long haul of campaigning, and I'm ready to go to the polls. I think all of us would agree. We want it be over! God already knows who the winner is.....Johanna, I hope for the best too! Thanks Dorothy, Lesley, and Johanna for commenting!

Thanks for your post, Misrael. It's good to hear several perspectives and then make a decision. I was thinking about the same thing this morning. I went to vote... .but the polls open at 1pm today.... and as I was leaving I recalled what happened in Florida. I believe with the computerized system they have corrected most of the problems. I was listening to one of the local candidates who was encouraging everyone here in Texas to vote early. Nonetheless.... your points are well taken. We have to be wise as serpents and as harmless as a dove.

MIISRAEL Bride Monday, October 27th 2008 at 10:00AM

Dr Miller, thank you. Afterall, I'm not telling anyone they shouldn't vote. Only expressing I'm wanting to wait until election day. We do have to alway be wise, and harmless too. What a great reply....Thanks again!
