woo, woo, woo!!! Jacqueline, whats up with that. I think this blog was to show appreciation for black women not to bash black men. If you felt that way, you should have started your own blog. I wanted to show my appreciation for black women, thats all. I don't feel its appropriate for me to defend myself or black men in general on this blog. Your preaching to the choir, sista. The brothers I choose to associate myself with handle their business in regards with all the things you mentioned above.

Had a great comment to add but deleted it because it would have sounded like an attack to fellow BIA members who are doing exactly what this site was developed for. To get comments on any blog is a great achievement, even the ones that bash the blog and seem somewhat out of place based on the original topic. Chris finish your list just add a few thank you's and I love you so E will not get atfter you :)... then show that you have a job and the means to support your wife so Jackie will not thing your a good for nothing loafer... and in the future repost a update to show you've been with her for 40 years so Irma sees that your married the right one....

I got married March 9, 62 to a Marine who went to Nam twice. and remained in the Marine Corp for 23 years. WE communicate, and are friends unconditionally.I must confess some times it is hard not to just go on automatic and take each other for granted.This is the enemy of any form of a relationship be it new, forming or long lasting.

My husband was gone off doing military things a lot. some time for week, some times for months. and sometimes for a year or two so a lot of our long marriage was like courting or taking me out on dates when he comes back after a short time away. We were never able to have a stale relationship. We were so lucky.

Here is something my mom taught me. "Treat people like you are going to need them again". You will surround yourself with the best of these out standing young Black men. I know that my "son"Kenneth X opens the car door for his date.He open all doors for women,bar non.(smile)

Gregory, I am sure that you are trying to say that I am trying to live Chris' life to my valuesand not trying to support his right to freedom of thought/speech?If you were joking, I am the first to apologize as this was about as funny as ropes on a tree in a school yard!!!

Actually just the opposit, because I left out how I am married to a Black Muslim, as I doubt if they are encluded in this kind of a post. Please stop trying to define me in any way form or fashion, please.

Hell, some men/people call Gay men, a WOMAN, but then this is another blog isn't it. I assumed that his poem was relating to me and Black WOMEN in a positive now religious limited way, to all Black Woman and not to please me or to offend me. this poem is bigger than this.

Much like telling Christopher that he has no duty or obligation to satisfy you, "me" and others because he chosed to write about his PERSONAL feelings, am I correct on this also?

Therefore, Chris, I say here as I said on your post to E, "when you have done your best, say well done" I love and respect your feelings and as a proud Black woman, it is "I" who owe you a THANK you for this beautiful, no, this beautiful and priceless poem.

Chris please never forget that some times people will try to deny you the very rights that they are seeking for themselves. Say like freedom of "thought"to feel good about you self and your ability to bring some comfort to others?

Your poems and your post are/should be of your choice as this is what you choose to think about at that time which to me is subjective. This did come from you did it not Christopher of your own free will and using your own personal mental powers?

Isn't freedom of speech and assembly a wonderful thing?

Isn't learning from our mistakes the things of progress?

Doesn't it feel good to step into the shoes of others?Blogs like this is what makes me so glad to be a member of the Black community.We are many in body but one in mind when we unite like this to give and take from each other and come out the better for it. This has the Black woman smiling on all.so, once again thank you Christopher for bring attention to what will make your mother proud that you are proud to be who you are.
