A thank you to all the people of Ohio for opening your homes to Obama volunteers!
I have asked that you volunteer, at the office, by phoning undecided Democrats, knocking on doors, , bringing food to the volunteers, and opening your homes, and you have responded. From Shaker Heights to Lakewood, the West side to downtown.
In a whirlwind of last minute campaigning I have hit 3 states in 72 hours. Some are apathetic or maybe pathetic , but most are fired up. I have knocked on the doors of poor whites, living next door to poor blacks and Latinos. I have seen despair, blighted neighborhoods, no jobs, no hope in their faces.
We are coming together. This is our time, our last chance for a long while to turn this country around. To build a better nation so that all may enjoy the fruits of this great America, do I sound like a politician? you bet..because it really touches your soul and you really want the best for everyone.
Okay, family it is not too late, fry some chicken , send a box of donuts, send your sons and daughters, walk in and be part of the magic. There is still a lot of work to be done before the 4th of November. Make a spare room available, for a volunteer, offer to drive the elderly and shut ins on Election day, Obama is where he is today because of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Be Blessed.

i really understand your ideas about volunteerism. i do volunteer work in maryland with the red cross and autism awareness organizations. if you get a chance to read a book called "the end of work" it is great. the end of the book talks how volunteerism is the third sector of the world economy, but not recognized for its importance.
