DL Hughley Breaks the News premiered on CNN Saturday October 25, 2008. African Americans viewers "hated It" and was "embarrassed"; white females found it "entertaining and informative" and white males "wanted to like it," and probably hoped not to be blamed for the buffoonery. That was straight trash. I never really felt his stand-up performances in the first place. In the Kings of Comedy he was the weakest link. D.L. "the new Sambo."

I'm wondering if its the "in front of white folks" that people are more upset about. but as I said in the post, DL is or wants to be "mainstream". I don't think he has been inconsistent. I thin the show will survie cause again white females love it. but was CNN trying to entertain "white females?" If it gets pulled, it would be that they don't want a brother doing that if anything.

There are plenty of black achors on CNN - all day long, includin Rick Sanchez (latino). Unfortunately these are just jobs. I remembered when they covered Jena six with all their black anchors, but the focus was still to their main demographic - white america. We just have to face it. We have not created a universe for these this generation of young gifted talent men and women with great aspirations. That's the key.

Your last point just above was most salient, Yalanda. This is a program designed to entertain white America, just as Black in America was.

To be honest, I found it humorous. Maybe I'm standing alone. This election has been so tense and I thought he brought a side humor that many have been ignoring. I found humor in it. He did a great job at showing how many in white America cannot handle voting for an African American. He also showed some of shortcomings of the candidates. Remember, comedy is humor and entertainment. It's not meant to be take seriously.

Senator Obama was just on the Daily Show and Jon Stewart asked him, "when you get in the booth will get confused when you vote because your Mom was white and Dad is African". Barack replied with a sense of humor. Even he knows that there is humor in this election.

I am proud of whom I am and D.L.'s comments have not made me feel less of a person. Yes, I know many cross the "line", but let's not take it personally. Why do think Barack has gotten so far. He is so cool in the midst of storms. He doesn't let this stuff bother him because he's focused. He knows how to sift through all of this to get to what's real.

I'm looking forward to seeing D.L. Hugley tonight. We need to learn to laugh a little more; It releases stress!

Let us try looking at this another way.DL as Don Lemon are now ANCHORS on CNN. this was unheard of a few weeks ago, right? We must start some where!

Say for example, what series on main stream media do Blacks star in if not in roles of carrying a gun or in comedy?I do not watch(in a personal protest) one Black star eposode on any of TV comedy for this reason. I will support any ANCHOR possition of a Black person even if they are just limited to after prime time on the weekend. Again, we as a race must start some where...been there, done that with us in violent and silly roles!!!

Please help me with this one. What about DL being on CNN that is so different that what is done on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart and the Colbert Report, in news satire except they have been on longer, high rated and the two host are white?

Isn't it the norm for networks to have run off of highly rated programs?

Plus, as Lemon and DL are both Blacks doing "anchor" on the same news network they can not be called, tokens. something else I do not like. And, please, I beg you to take a look at how many dark skin co-anchors you see on teh network news programs?then we can get back to White women are the reason that black men are where they are on CNN/Tv. This is back to Black people have no purpose in any thing short of school drop outs, drugs and going to jail...I am ashamed that I have to say things like this to my own people!!!!!

We as a people do not exist solely to please/be judged as worthy the White race!!!!Be they White male or female.

Does Rick Sanchez have any idea the he is being classified on the net as an African-American?The same way that the cable news networks have African-American anchors and know nothing about it, or at least FOX does not therefore I guess their reputation as a Conservative-Right news network is safe?????

But then FOX is the spin king and reality denial king are they not? This is why poor Sean Hannity is still trying to get some traction our of rev. J. Wright and how money given by Bill Aryers to help support the Black study departments in Chicago's schools is being called by those of their experts as teaching 'terrorism"! Oh, well, Obama is called every thing in the book. sure makes him up in all of the polls now don't it?

My pride in being an African-American will have me continue to try and help teach this , We are a race of human beings not "objects" to all who still doubt it in this in these day and age...21st century...
