There was a silent normal day in New Zealand.. then suddenly….EARth Quake!
New Zealand seconded largest city was rampaged by a 7.0 major earthquake around 1:00p.m. on February 21st, 2011. In panic people ran in pandemonium seeking to find someplace to go. Buildings tumbled, cars crushed and many people were trapped under rumble. In panic hundreds who were wounded cried as they awaited assistance. Rescuers scrambled among the ruins to free those buried under the fallen buildings. This was the second quake reported from New Zealand in the last 6 months. In September 2010 the township of Christchurch was rattled, but unlike this current quake there were no tragedies. Reports indicated that at an alarming rate people are turning up dead within hours 65 had been killed in the disaster. Geologists informed that high activity from recent quakes may be caused by a fault line which runs through the country. As with often with quakes there are ruins and power loss at least 400,000 homes have no power and people are screaming each time there is an aftershock which they are experiencing at least 100. Emergency aid for the victims are said to be arriving from the U.S. and other countries. Christchurch is still recovering from its last quake, but this recent one will leave them picking up again in order to begin again.
