| Why Are You Concerned About Black America: |
| My most concern about Black America is our unwilliness to take full responbility to what is happening to us now. Sure we were slaves and was treated harsh as a people, I find that we are much like the man who slipped on the ice, one week later you come back and he is still laying on the pavement. You ask what happen? He exclaims, I slipped and fail on the Ice one week ago. His blame game, excuse, is over.
By the way is that not what Adam did when he was approched by God as to what he had done wrong? "The woman you gave me offered and I ate."
Iremember when men act as men, one that comes to mind was my elementary school principle, Mr. FS Berry. 1964/65 He would discipling children, yes spank. He spoke with commaning authority. Yet he knew how to be kind, humble, helpful. Would always call me by my name, When this man walk in the gym for a school assemble, a cotton ball could fall to the floor an you could hear it. This was at a time when racisim was in your face loud!
Mr. Berry was respected by blacks an whites at a crucial time in history, Why? Because he respected himself, he edified it in others, his countance demanded it of others!
I met him again for two years in middle school, he had not forgotten me,(a boy) neither had he waiver in his integrity for what was right.
After 45 years i still remember his motivational chant...."Decent, Respect, Godliness, Cleaness, and get your lesson!
I noticed that when the movie Lean On Me, came out. I had already been awaking to the experience in the movie.
Mr berry died without getting the regonition that he deserved in the field of education. How sad. But was that his concern? You tell me.
The moral of the story is builld yourself to be the best that you can be in all aspects of your life, then and only then will a few see your mountain and respect it.
I am afarid that we are loosing our strength as a race, We have some that is afraid to think out side of the box, we have some that do.
I say think as if there is no box!!! |
