Q&A With Joseph Fenner

What bought you to where you are in your life today?
"First and Foremost, It is God that has bought me to where I am at today. My Mother and Oldest Sister who advised me on working hard and perservering despite what everyone said to me. Growing up in the Ghetto and seeing people quit can take a toll. The one thing every successfull person will say, they had plenty of haters and they found the way to make it. I read a lot of books and I read about people who were in the same boat as myself. Growing up poor helped me build a lot of character, I hung around "so-called" friends who only cared about being the life of the party. What happens when the party is over, what do you have left, someone has to clean up the mess. "

Interviewed by Fareeda Mabry 12/05/08

What's your favorite book?
"My favorite book is A Passion of Excellence The Leadership Difference by Tom Peters & Nancy Austin. This book helps out anyone in Organization & Preparation. It was a book that I read for my Capstone Seminar Course, I kept the book after the class ended, It is a learning guide that I reference. I met Tom Peters and heard him speak at a KPMG LLP Seminar in 2004. I recommend this book to everyone."

Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
"Taking my children to school and then going to one of my businesses to work on a business deal and or project."

Interviewed by Dawn Williamson 10/18/08

What motivates you?
"Waking up every morning healthy and strong. If I get up, make my plans, set goals, I find the strength to get things accomplished. I grew up in the Projects, on welfare, going to Public School being told by my teachers and classmates, I would become a BUM. I told them no I won't, they laughed and I worked hard to make that happen. The more people made fun of me, the harder I worked, getting angry and cursing people out only hurts you, not them. Channeling that frustration into something positive, that is how you make things happened. As long as I am alive, that is what motivates me, I listen to people who are successful and hear what they went through to get to where they are. I realize they were in the same boat as myself"

Interviewed by Alisha Woodall 10/09/08

What has life taught you?
"You have to work extremely hard in order to be successful. Just because you came from a poor background does not mean you have to end up in a poor background. I came from the Projects of New York City, a small number of people become successful. I had a bunch of people who teased me my sixth grade teacher told me in front of my entire class "I would never amount to sh**" it hurt me, my classmates teased me, I told them I will be something, I did go on to graduate High School and attending three colleges, I did graduate from two of those three colleges. Life has taught me, there is no such thing as a free lunch, Hardwork and Perserverance pays off, you need haters in order to succeed. "

Interviewed by Elise Roberts 10/08/08

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
"Taking my children to school, getting them a much better education then I received. Running my businesses full-time, working solely for myself, Mentoring people as a whole."

Interviewed by Samitra Tomberlin-Salas 10/08/08

What did you think of Blacks in America?
"I liked the two part Documentary CNN did, as far as Blacks as a whole, there is a whole lot of work that needs to be done. The school systems in the inner cities are at an all time worse, we have too many ghetto's, lack of pride. We spend so much money in this country and we are not majority shareholders in these Corporations. "

Interviewed by Tameka Curwen 09/26/08

Can you live a successful life with Bipolar Disorder?
"Yes, Living with a Bipolar Disorder can be controlled. Who on this planet is perfect, there is something wrong with everyone, it is about maintaining health, strength and moving forward. "

About   (request update)
I am very strong willed and determined, many People told me I was not good enough and that I would never succeed in anything. I believed God would give me the strength to do well and God did. I went on to Graduate High School, two colleges, managed to have a successful business and became a good family man. As of right now my autobiography is in-complete, I am pleased with my success but feel I can do more nor have I reached my Peak. I am still in my Prime and I am looking to improve, Many of my critics are still critiquing people while they have achieved little to no success. We need to have haters in order to succeed, Just ask any successful person, someone hated on them and they are doing well because of it.

Aww no -no brother you misunderstood my message--I am the software repair Queen of my own computer!! I blogged on it under the title "IT professionals" I do not need any help..my computer and I battled it out for 27 days, thanks!! -I probably could teach you and our nephew a few things--that is what "empirical " means from observations, not from a book!! LOL -

I just read that you are looking into computer repair--do you mean hardware or software problems? or both--I have this 4 inch thick book on "Computer Repair"--perhaps I can send it to you--it's old which is good..-because you learn back from about 10 years ago up to today--but you learn the foundation- when my computer started acting up--I decided to go the trial and error route--and here I am ! I spent over $600.00 on Computer Geeks--the company --they were useless.. you'd have to pay for shipping though-- it's heavy!!
