"Prayer. Working out to relieve stress. Reading and writing poetry. Blogging. It's funny you should have this as your interview question, since I'm coming off a period of struggle and considerable financial pain. Thanks for the opportunity to share with you. Reggie"
"I am a teacher. Besides mathematics, I give advice on career choices and life options. I tend to advise parents on discipline as well: their best service is to NOT be their child's friend, but to lead them; leadership is sometimes a lonely place, but children are best raised with boundaries, not options."

My BlackInAmerica.com Profile
Why Are You Concerned About Black America:
I was born in Winston-Salem, NC in Kate Bitting Hospital, at the time one of 12 black-owned hospitals in the United States. Now, there to my recollection are none. I watched as the local drug dealer, "Po' Charlie," brought in weed, acid and angel dust. Eventually, bolder miscreants brought in crack cocaine and the neighborhood on East 25th and Cleveland Avenue has gotten older: there are few property owners as the previous ones have aged, live in nursing homes like my mother or passed away. The children of the previous owners either sold the houses to white investors that turned them into government assistance housing, or boarded and abandoned them only to be broken into constantly for usage as crack houses and prostitution. Three homes were burnt down in my old neighborhood for no valid reason I can surmise other than to drive property values down. The perpetrators were arrested. The good that is done by ministries like the Potter's House in Winston-Salem (no affiliation to TD Jakes) are not supported by the City Council. I see the signs of gentrification coming in and the neighborhood eventually converted to condominiums that the residents will not be in a position to afford. They'll move to the next location in the city that gives them Section 8 housing, and the process - it IS a process - will start all over again. That process is replicated in major cities around the US. It cannot be coincidence.
