The GOP is Running Roughshod over Obama and the Democrats (312 hits)

And they will continue to clown until WE put an end to it.

I just hope that, a year from now, we’re not sitting here thinking, why didn’t I do/demand more while staring at 2 million more job losses, 3 million more home foreclosures, and who knows what other economic devastations? I just hope, a year from now, as we sift through the wreckage of what’s left of the economy, we’re not having to ask ourselves, why did we let the GOP run roughshod over Obama and the dems, when we KNEW they did not mean well? Didn’t we just have two elections, in 2006 and in 2008, where the voters’ clear message was that they are tired of this mess from these people? We had six years of GOP rule, and the country is in the worst shape it’s been in our lifetimes, and beyond. We don’t need any more proof that their policies have produced nothing but abject failure. That’s why we have a democratic House, Senate and White House today. The GOP has been reduced to a regional party and down to its extremist essence. A bigot, Rush Limbaugh, is its de facto leader. And this in a year when voters just elected the first African American president. Yet we treat them as if they had won the election; that their ideas are fresh and new and the democrats are the reason we’re in this situation. I don’t understand it.

I have no doubt about Obama and his unassailably honorable intentions. He is still the right man at the right time. Maybe what he’s destined for is even bigger than the economic problems we face. Who knows at this point? Still, the economy looms large, and while I understand and appreciate the goal of bipartisanship, and the benefits that would derive from that if it were truly achieved, it is a two-way street, and so far Obama’s being hamstrung by a GOP that clearly has no intentions towards bipartisanship. Time and again, to his outstretched hand, they extend a fist, a knife and a gun. They treat him as if he’s a sucker for expecting the GOP to actually work with the democrats. They take his good will and sincerity, and repay it by doing everything they can to undermine him and ensure his failure. Their leader was clear in saying as much. To them, “bipartisanship” means giving them everything they want, and more, while they lie and blame democrats and Obama for everything that could go wrong. Precious time is wasting and nothing has been done that has made any appreciable difference. For all the talk about “change” democrats are doing little more than what they have done in the past, which is sit back and react out of fear of republicans.

Bipartisanship? How about this: yesterday John McCain went on the TV and shamelessly told the bold-faced lie that there has been little if any effort at achieving bipartisanship from Obama and the democrats. They have bent over backwards to accommodate the GOP, and what did they get in return? McCain’s public betrayal of Obama, and not one GOP House vote for the stimulus, even after Obama opened up the process and allowed the changing of the bill to include some of the things they said they wanted. And they still voted against it.

At some point we have to wonder what the big picture strategy is, but the shape of what that is has yet to come into focus. Obama appoints yet another republican to his cabinet, Sen. Judd Gregg as Commerce Secretary. Gregg would vacate his senate seat to take the job, and in the process; the governor of his home state appoints his replacement. In this case, the governor of NH, Gregg’s home state, is a democrat. The GOP would not allow Gregg to take the seat, unless the democratic governor of the state agreed to appoint another republican. Obama and the dems, inexplicably, went along with the deal. What is the shape of things to come?

I have to pause here to remind myself that, Obama has only been president for 16 days, even though it seems much longer given all that’s gone on. He’s made huge strides in repairing the perception of the US in the world community, given his moves on shutting down Guantanamo. But the question begs: how far is he willing to let the GOP go in this direction before laying down the hammer? If we give up too much now, in the interest of trying to achieve “bipartisanship,” we run the risk of watering down the impact of the stimulus to the point that, a year from now…

We do not have the luxury of time. We cannot afford to do too much more in reaching out to people who only want to undermine. Seems like almost every day now a canary sings in the economic coal mine. Last week, it was the disturbing news that 62,500 jobs were lost in one day, and now we are losing jobs at a pace that averages approximately 20,000 jobs a day. Today it was reported that car sales for Chrysler for January were down 55%, GM 49% and Ford 40%. Toyota, Honda and Mazda are about to lay off some people and slow production lest they end up with too much idle inventory. These are warning signs of what is to come.

Use the bully pulpit to let the people know that, we elected you, you tried to work with them, and they are intent on doing the same thing they’ve been doing for the last six years that led us to this point, and now you are going to work on legislation without their votes. Paint them as the enemies of democracy they are acting like. You have the popularity to do so.

Empower the DNC and other democratic groups to run ads against every one of these obstructionist GOP senators, and let people know these are the people standing in the way of help for you, the average voter, because they are not being allowed to lavish billions more on their billionaire patrons.

We cannot afford to wait too much longer, lest there not be much left to save. What can we do? Call, write and call some more to the offices of our reps in Congress and Senators. Call into the talk shows and make your voice heard. There has to be no mistaking where the public interest lies. Here’s the link:

Our Leader President Baraka Hussein Obama does not touch pork..............

And as evidenced by the Clintons, Bushes, McCains and the DixieCrat Democratic Republican Party loyalists they are NO match for our President. Dont worry folks.

And dont look back because there is no example in American History for the obstructionists to use in trying to keep up with our President. He is already in 16 days; light years ahead of them and US.

Now is the time for all of us to 'put down our childish ways'---WhiteSupremacy is gone..............and SlaveAmericans need to get on the plane of thought and direction that our President is taking us....this is change--and by the definition change is different.

Clark that is sound advice. If we want our government back working for and with us we must do more than complain. Me, I love every thing that is going on right now with Obama, because we are still willing to allow the Republicans to remain in that no man's land of "lower taxes". As taxes come mostly from the jobs money earnings of the middle-class the very idea of even collecting taxes is almost a bygone practice!!!Our government has borrowed so much money for so long from medical and social security do they really exist beyond being on paper?

But, for me I look forward to not next year but some times this year when our President will be able to stop reaching our his hands to only end up having it bitten by the Conservatives!!!

Now Clark, please help me with this one. If it is illegal for the governor of ILL. to put conditions on who he will appoint as a Senate replacement then is it not illegal for that governor in that New England to put conditiions on who he choose to replace the senator who took that commerce sect. job? I heard on the TV news about this governor saying he would appoint someone who would be in other words 'friendly' to the Republicans when they vote. I see this as setting/filling a pre condition on who gets that seat in the senate(to get the person already in that seat reassurance that he can stop worrying about his party blaming him or something or other) for a kick back to the Democrats and a double blow for the Republicans.

Clark so glad to know that I am not chasing windmills in how I look at this matter of 'wrong' is wrong no matter who does it. Now will the Ill. governor's lawyers be able to bring up this matter in is trial? And, if not then why not as they must know this would help him; if I am asking this question?

The hardest part of trying to do the tests to help get you accepted to law school is answering those "Logical" questions. Having taken those special classes that promise to help you for that six months of those fees no on can afford does not help at all when you take a look at those questiions on that test...The most important thing I learned was, "Justice is how that judge feels that day" also always try to get your case after the judge has drank his/her lunch as they are more friendly(smile)

No, I decided not to go to law school and if you pay attention to me on this site you will know why I changed my mind. The judge would send me to jail for contempt to serve more time in jail than I would be in his courts...Things have to make sense to me and all lawyers have to do is force/form questions to force those on the other side to lie, loose their temper, etc. It is all about the $ which turned me off.

Just a little secret from me to you as I love your logical arguments on how our government works...lov ya(smile)

And, you and I both are so grateful the our president and his wife are attoreys and both know what society is about from all sides, race, economics, politics, education, etc.

I loved the way that our president carried his fight right to the mass media. He even paid Hellen a compliment about she is welcome back to ask questions. And I also loved the way he called each reporter by name who have been only using his words as sound bites to make them look good. I can not wait for the next round with the reporters who are not use to our president or hs press sectrary answering their sound bite questions direct and complet. So in reality who is running rough shod on who(smile)

Clark, I guess this is why I felt the need to tell you what I did as it really has nothing to do with ...as it was very personal...or may be I see the net as a big open court room to litigate for equality and correct education by way of go check what I say out for yourself...(smile)

And, Clark because the governor of your state is so much like what kept Madoff in power is this not wonderful? (maybe he can use this angle also to buy him some time and much needed high powered support) It is like killing two birds with one stone and all it took is the public finally getting as say along with these Whistle blowers that are coming our of the wood works...Thank you for helping to better under this from Ill. It helps to learn about things like this that causes one to think .

Bush and Chaney will be in prison long before Madoff at this rate. There is no way that there will not be an full investigation of the Bush's administration by the Democrats because much like Madoff those he turn must be tried and in prison long before they can bring actual charges against him. The Democrats are only buying time by point all of the blame on the Republicans. They all took lobby money to allow this crisis.

Poor FOX, they have gotten rid of all of their high paid anchors and not they are changing the time slots. I enjoy watching FOX after I have watch the MSNBC reporting on the fox's networks self distructions. I laughed all the way tonight as they went against Obama's press conference about how Obama is trying to blame(Bush) everyone except himself for all of this although he has been president a few weeks. Oh, did you hear about Steele and the 'accident' that got information about his possible illegal acts coming from the U.S state's attorney to the Washington POst, now this is too much, but Steele put himself into this position. I almost feel sorry for the Republican "cut taxes's"one note party.

No Muslim would touch pork nor my best friend as she is a vegetarian...this is a specialty of CONGRESS in fact I believe that this expression only refers to politicians in D.C. any way...only those who follows a (wanna be)DICTATOR (say like) G. Bush or the Granddragon would follow a LONE Leader and this is why President Obama keeps saying that he needs a "Government" of the People backing him during his 4 or 8 years as the leader of all American citizens. I guess this is to be more appreciated that he is 1/2 Black and 1/2 White, huh?????

All of America and those who live in America have at one time or another been victims of Slave Mentality where only those at the top recieves and money for their labor...Why does any same person not understand that the Republicans talk only about tax cuts as if if there are no jobs to pay the taxes then the whole tax American tax colection has been eleminated. Or what happens on April 15 is not just confined to Democrats now is it????

Now thinking that only Democrats have lost their homes, jobs. are homeless need to eat at least once in a while or that there are only two ways to get money to by food, pay rent, bills is 1. legally 2. illegally....(smile)

but, who knows maybe I write this nonsense because my skin is dark...if so what a blessing this is...
