Can one honestly give the greeting of peace (As Salaam Alaikum) if one is knowingly causing harm to those that the greeting is directed?

Can one that is allowing another to hurt them, honestly return said greeting (Wa Alaikum Salaam) and actually mean it? Are they contributing to absence of peace in their own life?

Peace

We are what we speak-speaking words of encouragement will if nothing else, keep a person in check. I understand the subtext of your first question, can you smile at me while sticking a knife in my back? as the Romans did during the persecution of Christ? That's the enemy in disguise. I guess there is no peace in their lives.
