"The Soloist" with Jamie Foxx & Robert Downey, Jr.: Wow! (1285 hits)

Here's a scene from the movie:

If this scene was any indication of what's to come, wow. I saw this movie yesterday and came out completely satisfied. It was thought-provoking and my heart went out to both characters, who happen to be real-life people.

RD, Jr. and Jamie Foxx did it. The casting director (or agent) should get a raise for this pairing. Their partnership portrayals in this film melded together like sweet cream buttermilk and cornbread.

This story is deep and the realism of not glittering it up with some Hollywood happy ending made it so much better.

Jamie Foxx as Anthony Ayers...brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! How the article's writer omits this is beyond me (from the NY Times). How can ANYONE review this movie and NOT MENTION JAMIE FOXX?????????? He didn't overact or undersimplify. You can tell Jamie studied this man close-up. Just as with Ray, his desire is to transform into the character...BECOME the character. That says something wonderful about his work ethic.

And RD, goodness. As always, he, too, brought it. His performance was stunning. I wouldn't be surprised if one of both of them gets some kind of Golden Globe or Oscar nom. One scene had me bawling. I'd like to see these two together again. Their chemistry is as smooth and flavorful as a chorizo and egg quiche. LOL.

A MUST SEE. A+

I just saw the movie yesterday. Having done work with the so-called mentally challenged, I was impressed by the sympathetic presentation that was not patronizing. The so-called misfits carve out a world of their own in a world has no way of truly seeing them for the humans that they are. Their world has its pitfalls but so does ours.
