Georgia Attorney General Faces Impeachment Threat After Refusing To File Anti-Health Care Lawsuit

"Georgia lawmakers reacted to Wednesday's news that their Attorney General, Democrat Thurbert Baker, would not sign on to a multi-state lawsuit to block the health care bill in his state by filing papers to have him impeached."

"The blog Peach Pundit reports that the resolution to impeach Baker, also a candidate for Georgia governor, now has at least 30 signatures and is still going forward."

"Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue, a Republican, petitioned Baker to sign on to the joint lawsuit filed by more than a dozen attorneys general across the country earlier this week that seeks to shield states from the effects of the new health bill, including the so-called "individual mandate," which forces most people to buy insurance."

"'I cannot justify a decision to initiate expensive and time-consuming litigation that I believe has no legal merit,' Baker wrote in a two-page response to Gov. Perdue. 'In short, this litigation is likely to fail and will consume significant amounts of taxpayers' hard-earned money in the process.'"

"On Thursday Gov. Perdue said he would appoint a 'special attorney general' to sign on to the lawsuit challenging the health care bill since Baker would not do it himself, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution."

"Perdue made the announcement a day after state Attorney General Thurbert Baker, a Democrat running for governor, told Perdue, a Republican, he would not pursue a lawsuit."

As Georgia AG Baker says, these suits are going nowhere, and will ultimately be a waste of time and money pursuing them. At a time when the economy is in its worst state since the great depression, this is how the republican party decides to waste everybody's time. The health care reform bill is hardly "radical;" it doesn't go nowhere near far enough in the minds of many. Yet they are making this out to be some great national tragedy, just because they lost!

With all the violence, lunacy and other such stuff they've unleashed, its only a matter of time before something bad happens. It would be great if Obama could give a press conference and let the public know that, we will all stand together in the face of the violence and hatred of the republican party.

Hey Clark, from what I just heard on the news I am sure our federal government is very glad that we are not worried about the lack of jobs no more than we were as every thing being made in America was outsourced out of this country...

What I just heard is Social Security is officially broke...becsue of lack of employment mor epeople ahve been and are still applying for early retirement...I wonder if many of us remember all those years when our government was using SS and Medial as their own personal piggy bank...CAN ANYONE SAY, " OUR GREEDY , BEST CONGRESS THAT LOBBY MONEY CAN BUY" has come home to roost?!?

I am sure this health care reform bill is more pressing than SS being broke as it is all about emotions and not truth nor facts...or we can just end these two wars and back our president in his refusing to tell Israel taht this country is closed fo rfinancing their endless wars. (smile)

HOw very interesting Clark as this is suppose to be about the 'individual not being "required" to do something"? but, "I" would not expect nothing less from the GOP in their being the gift that keeps on giving. example,

Eric Cantor just called the chair persons of the Democrat party responisble for all of this violence against him...and Rep. Clyburn put it right back at the GOP by challenging them to show how one Democrat that has ever used any of this from the right-wingers calling our president a lie to this firing of bullets into Cantor's headquarters following the GOP's using Palin's and Steele's use of FIRING and Targets on those who voted for this bill as a way to raise campaign funds....I repeat the gift that keeps on giving. (smile)

NOw I must go watch our president's speech that is happeinig right now...thanks for this blog my brother...YES WE CAN...

Hey Clark much like the courts needs to have "Harm" done to someone by this HCRB, ect, and one of the states's governors has made a law for 2014 eventhought his state has already filed a lwasuit against this bill...I really want to talk with you about another political v the laws of our federal government as related to this latest video tape from Bin Laden about he will kill andy captured Americans if the alledged 9-11 master mind being put to death...

Not long ago Clark I heard ath if this master mind is not tried in the state where the attack took place he can not be put to death if found guilty in court...NOw my husband was in the Marines for over 20 years...when we lived on a military base the base was not considered a part of out side of taht base, example we could not vote in the surrounding citys or get a divorce, ect. because being on base was to have a separate resident which meant we were subjects of the military not the state's laws, ect... do you under stand where I am coming from in this person being tried on a military base the death pendalty may never be able to apply?!?

But, I am sure this person and any others from Gitmo will have as their attorneys the same lawyers of which some left the military over many of the iillegal things that were done in violations of not just Civil Rights but against the no torture signed by our federal government long before WWII...Plus there is the need of many like myself who believe no one, not even a president/ his administration should be above the laws of our country!!!!(I am not smiling)

I will say this and leave...the state of Colorado has a mandate thatt you must wear a seat as an adult belt or you will pay a fine...and not only this but the car seat of your child( at least 20- 40 lbs) must meet the requirements of the REQUIRED car seats, " MEEETING THELABEL FMVSS 213!!!! (smile)

Which it is my belief that it is going to be much more 'expensive ' to over ride this than in many other states, but maybe my state of Ca. is the only state in financial crisis. looooooool
