Obama Calls Out Limbaugh, Beck

· Friday, April 2nd 2010 at 1:49PM · 399 views
"President Obama called out Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh by name in an interview with CBS News' Harry Smith about the vitriol present on the talk radio airwaves."

"'I've been out and about, listening to talk radio,' Smith told Obama. 'The kindest of terms you're sometimes referred to out in America is a socialist. The worst of which I've heard is called a Nazi. Are you aware of the level of enmity that crosses the airwaves and that people have made part of their daily conversation about you?'"

"'Well, I think that when you listen to Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck, it's pretty apparent, and it's troublesome,' the President responded. 'But keep in mind that there have been periods in American history where this kind of vitriol comes out. It happens often when you've got an economy that is making people more anxious, and people are feeling like there is a lot of change that needs to take place. But that's not the vast majority of Americans. I think the vast majority of Americans know that we're trying hard, that I want what's best for the country.'"

"Obama added that he doesn't buy into the favorable coverage of him either."

"'I didn't buy all the hype, right after inauguration, where everybody was only saying nice things about me," he said. 'And I don't get too worried when things aren't going as well because I know that over time these things turn.'"

Clark, any thing to get the talking points onto a new topic. lol

The cutest and most outragious response to this shout out to those on the right's talking heads is, "The president should not be so thin skined" (smile)

but, it is so interesting that Rush is getting negative feed back for calling our government a Regime...you know one of those regime changes of Bush's and how to dbring about the changes needed...

I would say how good taht these were not times as hard under Bush because of how HItler used the Germany's ecomonic distress on the Jews and wanted governments to be redone in his image.( Bush's take was the anyone in America against his administration were , INSANE was said over and over by him.)

But, can not do because , many governments had the needs for regime change when they were at the hight of their government's richest and secure states .

robert, now that the FCC has had a total make over since the Bush years, these two may not be still on the public air waves or in good favor with Americans of any thing but trying to keep our country safe from all of these nut cases coming out in the open. (smile)

Yelling fire in a crowded theater nor speech to start riots / acts of murder/ lack of concern for the safty and security of our local community is N-O-T protected by the first amendment. The first amendment also says that we are free to assemble with who we please , but I doubt if this was true these 9 'extremest' would be in jail right now. (smile)
