Microsoft Brings the Education Reform Debate to the Social Web. Redu, a site hosted by Bing, offers members the chance to Teach, Volunteer and Donate to benefit US education reform. Redu, an acronym for rethinking, reforming and rebuilding US education, stands to be a one-site portal to bring parents and educators together to reach real results.
Teach
Considering the long list of teachers who were cut due to budget reductions or performance issues this past school year, the need to offer these teachers a way to find employment or education resources is vital to the future of education, not to mention the US economy. As noted on the Redu site, “To that end, Bing put together an online map application that helps teacher candidates find prep programs, licensing, and job listings."
Volunteer
Based around the global “Hands on Network”, education volunteers can find programs that need their assistance in their own communities. With decreased staff and budgets, volunteers are even more vital this year to the success of our schools.
Donate
Using DonorsChoose.org as a portal, teachers have the ability to post upcoming projects and products they need for their classrooms. Donors have the option to choose any project and designate any amount of money to donate, as small as a dollar. Once the project reaches its budget goals, DonorsChoose.org will ship the project products to the school.
Check out Redu and see how you can support US education.
