The Gullah are known for preserving more of their African linguistic and cultural heritage than any other African-American community in the United States. They speak an English-based creole language containing many African loanwords and significant influences from African languages in grammar and sentence structure. The Gullah language is related to Jamaican Creole, Barbadian Dialect, and the Krio language of Sierra Leone in West Africa. Gullah storytelling, cuisine, music, folk beliefs, crafts, farming and fishing traditions, all exhibit strong influences from West and Central African cultures. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gullah

carolina geeche... the natives on gullah Island... still practice many of the Ancient African rituals.... It's fascinating..

Let's make plans to attend the next Gullah Festival in Charleston, S.C. next May (2011). What do you say? We can visit some of the Islands and buy some art, jewlry, and crafts. Let's not forget eat some good food!!

People from the low country (Charleston, Beaufort Savannah) are referred to as Geeche. But I like your story.

Jen yes please.... I would love that... all of the times I had wanted to go.. I never could get there... but I met some wonderful people while I was there.
I met some of the Natives when I lived in Ft Stewart but worked in Savannah. One was my son's nurse while he was at the NIC Unit... she use to talk to him and sing to him.... I would tease her about his speech ((he talks so fast .... ))...
My baby brother's Family is from North Carolina and he too has the dialect of the natives... I personally like hearing them speak.... You just have to pay close attention...

Hello to All,
It is out of you all’s ignorance why you would want to visit other people’s places instead of desiring to have your own place since God has decided to provide us with our own place, a portion of this continent that we could call our very own country with borders.
For example, Irma said this, “It is so suprising/ intersting how African-America s from Georgia have the exact accents and the way of using the order of the English (proper nouns and verbs )words as the Native-Africans of modern times. (smile)”
The reason this ignorant woman (Irma) finds it surprising and interesting is that the Black American from Georgia is the same Black American of modern times.
Black Americans are so ignorant that they do not know who they are and how they came into existence. Most Black Americans believes that they are Africans. We are the most ignorant people in White America, am I right.
I will say it again until you all understand that we are Black Americans and nothing else. Black Americans came into existence on this continent during the era of slavery when White people over 300 years consistently bred themselves initially with the African slave people they purchase from the slave traders. Am I making any sense?

I am flattered, Adam. Black America’s country will be a place that people from all over the world will come and vacation. In addition, Black Americans by then will have a national dish. I have no idea what the dish may be as we speak, but Black Americans will have our own dish as the Italians are known for meatballs and spaghetti.
Switching gears for a moment. The discussion that you all are having on Ms. Jen’s blog that “DAVID JOHNSON YOU ARE a HOMOPHOBE, a MORON, & a HUGE HYPOCRITE JUST LIKE EDDIE LONG!” shows how much mentally dysfunctional Black Americans are.
I am emphasizing this point that Black Americans are mentally dysfunctional and severely ignorant that if you years from now when you see our future descendents in a vibrant country of our own you will conclude that God did this for us, Black Americans. Today, you could see how dysfunctional and ignorant Black Americans are, but tomorrow if you will, would be very different.
Sure, David is mentally dysfunctional. I do not believe that David was ever a Marine. David suffers as all Black Americans. Black Americans wants to belong to something as well as to be seen as important. David’s way of belonging and being important is lying. He deletes all of my comments I post on his blogs because I challenge his mentality. Ms. Jen does the same. When I challenged Mrs. Jen’s mentality she deletes my comments. These traits are indicative of being mentally dysfunctional as well as ignorant.
One outstanding element of being dysfunctional and ignorant is that we do not know and cannot agree on who we are as Black Americans and how we came into existence. Some of us believe that we are African Americans, Colored people, Arabian people etc. Consequentially, you cannot even imagine the hill that I must climb to turn Black Americans into intelligent and real people in this world.

Some people from Georgia are refered to as 'geeches' in my part of N.C. lol (smile)

Hi Doc...as you were not on the site when I told this little true story , I will repeat it...
We as a rule call people from south Carolina 'geeche' and I learned the hard way that this word can be taken in a good way and a badl way muchlike the word '*****' can be taken...
one day this lady is from S.C. who was like a second mom to me and both she and my mom were named Mary...any way ...one day I called her a 'geeche' and she said to me..."IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE AS IT IS TO NEVER CALL HER THAT TO HER FACE AGAIN"...I NEVER DID...even at that very young age I was a fast learner. MUCH LIKE MY HUSBAND THE BLACK MUSLIM, I WILL NEVER EVER SAY THE WORD ***** IN THE SOUND OF IS VOICE..BE IT THE GOOD WAY OR THE BAD WAY. LOL (SMILE)
