Has anyone noticed, if one goes to the list of blogs, that the majority of blogs are getting very few hits? Is this a defect or a misunderstanding of what a blog is? Is it that the members are unable to focus? Is there a lack of actual bloggers, with most members sitting on the sidelines? Is it ego, the desire to be on the list of "Most Popular Bloggers", whatever that is supposed to mean? What do you all think?

mann..... do you know when to let it go...... YOU actn like no one complained about the loss of Robert's Blog.... I felt there was some good information on that blog... and some felt the blog was offensive... so the majority ruled....

Cynthia, did you read the text of the blog, or just the title? The title suggests a 2000 hit blog is significant, did not mention any name. The text poses a question, but I have received no answers, yet.
I have posed this question before, in other terms, how do we achieve a sustained discussion on a subject. I had about 600 hits on my Philosophy of Language blog. It is now in the dustbin along with Robert's. Extremely unlikely the discussion will ever be renewed. Robert's was ongoing, chances of it being recovered are nil. I thought Forums might be an answer, but it is not supported.
Do BIA members prefer to go from little blog to little blog, subjects of great or little interest, but all ending with the same fate, in the dustbin? I have pointed out a topic on another site that has has been going for 14 years!
So if you prefer sarcasm to a consideration of what, I think, is an important issue, have at it.

So looking at the numbers, so far 21 hits on this blog, trying to make it about personal sentiment. 2 hits on a blog about middle school funding, 2 and 3 hits on two cybersecurity, all posted after this one. And Cynthia has posted a blog about Harry. Great! Wonderful! Congratulations!

Bogging is ego-centric, not topic-centric. The problem goes way beyond this site. The very concept of a blog, of putting a list of Most Popular Bloggers (meaning not most popular but who has posted the most blogs, with no metric for what topic has generated the most interest) goes directly to the heart of modern day so-called social networking. And blog after blog is a FIFO (First In First Out), but the outgoing end is into a black hole. So yes, to delete a blog that was the only one that had not disappeared into this black hole on its own, is something worth considering.

So I can create a blog about education, and all the thoughts that go into that blog become irretrievable. Then another blog is posted on education, and again all the thoughts disappear. But if I could start a topic on education, which could continue to have visibility, even if the originator were long gone, then it becomes a database, not a FIFO, and all the thoughts can still be accessed. Just as I can go back 14 years on that other site. How far back can we access a specific topic on this site? If I want to see a repository of thoughts on education, it does not exist, not for us who contributed those thoughts, and not for anyone new who would be interested in those thoughts.

Clark, I thought I was addressing your statement, about everything coming to an end, with my analogy of a FIFO data structure vs. a database. And by thoughts, I should have been explicit in saying written thoughts. But I don't think this topic turns out to be relevant, so I am sure it will end up in the dustbin where it belongs. Maybe I' go find some rap videos to post. I'm not being sarcastic, I actually enjoyed the last 2 posted by David from Eminem and KRS-One. But I like my rap a little more hardcore, I'll go look for something by Notorious B.I.G.

Adam, The Honorable Elijah Muhammad (aka The Messenger Of Allah) taught in his book 'Message to the Black Man in America' that the white man is the devil. He taught that since the beginning of the white man's existence there has been nothing but tyranny, racism and bloodshed. When he taught this he did not say that the white man's physical features alone made them devils, but rather their malicious and devilish actions.

"I" never read blogs on business, because I have no interest in this but if the theme of a business blog is about some very young business creater, I will read it...
I would love to seem more blogs of Minister Farrakhan, and yet I don't because almost always they will be turned into a religious personal judgement war zone which has Z-E-R-O to do with the message...
but "I" always believe that every thing happens for a reason and not for what I want, need, desire, agree with or just the complete opposit of all that "I" just listed.
AND I HAVE SAID ALL OF THAT TO SAY THIS...SOME QUESTIONS, ARGUMENTS, BLOG THEMES , ONLY 'beggs the question' (as in can only be answered with another question / argueing in circles...as Clark has already stated)
