It's been so long!

I've been busy with school since September. I still am surprised that I got accepted without having my transcript from my previous school. I couldn't get the transcript since I owe them a large amount of money.

Currently "re-taking" classes again, I finally see why drawing and learning about the design principles are so important to making a great photograph. I thought I could steer away from drawing since I don't like it, but I'm liking it now. I've learned so much in that class since I have it three days a week, for an hour and fifteen minutes then I did at The Art Institute.

Still on my old school's schedule (four hour classes and 11 week semesters), I'm slowly making it through. Been sick two weeks ago, and that was a major setback on homework. Procrastinating is still a habit I want to get rid of.

I love school because it keeps me busy and I love learning new information every day. So anxious to get started on the actual photography classes. :)

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Good tidings to you Symone! Hang in there...

Hi Symone,

So good to see you again! I don't think I have told you I'm writing under my pen name now, instead of Steve Williams. I will send you a new friend request. I like the new pic.

I'm glad to hear you are enjoying school. Are you using Adobe Illustrator for drawing? I'm just learning a program called Inkscape, which is an open source drawing program. So I am not only using the program, which is free, but also have access to the source code of the program, and using it as a means to get back into software development. If you'd like to know more about it let me know. Commercial software is pretty expensive, as I'm sure you know. There is also an open source program called GIMP, which is what I use for photo editing.

So Photoshop has better features or do you find GIMP less user friendly?

I started out with Photoshop with version 3, around '94 or '95 but haven't used it in many years. I use GIMP for pretty basic things, resizing, cropping, adjusting curves, and sometimes filters. I don't get too fancy, so it works fine for me. But it's great you're taking that class, you will show us some of your work I hope?
