killing your own city

I was shocked when I finanlly did go to Detroit for the 1st time 4 yrs ago when my brother was graduating from Wayne State. I didn't really get see much beacuse I was came in one evening and left two evenings later. I did visit a month go for almost a week. I saw too many run down areas, unkept property.
It's up the citizens in the area to elect people that are dedicated to make things happen. Once they are in office, go to meeting, hold rallies, etc. The community has to invest in the community themselves.
My relatives for the most part are sadly sort of locked in the area. They elderly own their home. It's not that easy to pack up and move.

I didn't really know how bad it was it Detroit. I know by brother (who moved there about 6 yrs ago) told me . I just couldn't imagine a city being destroyed by us.
I still think there is hope. Even if if means just working one area at a time. The churches need to get involved. I am going to talk to my cousin who is a minister of a church there.
I am not on this site too often. I keep getting a msg I need to logg off this site or my computer will start running slow. When I am on it I try to type really fast.

A great ideal would be that concerned citizens take one neighborhood at a time to clean up all the debri. I lived there for a while and I notice how people in cars would drive by and throw garbage out of their car windows onto the streets. They use to have waste baskets on corners near bus stops but nobody thought to use them.

Your whining and complaining are yet another reason I am right when I say that our only permanent solution is we must desire to become a sovereign people on a portion of this continent that we could call our very own country with borders to pursue life, liberty, happiness and prosperity in our own way. Then, we would not have the right to blame city council, bankers and investors, the Black churches and the NAACP. Am I right or am I wrong?

We are an insane people by definition of insanity. What you all are whining and complaining about is not in the experience. Yet, we continue to whine and complain expecting a different result, which is the definition of insanity.

Pay attention to the things that I say! Our salvation will come through me as the salvation of the children of Israel came through Moses.

Mr. Watley right now we are living in the United States. Show me the money and then we can talk about becoming a sovereign nation. Right now, millions of our brother/ and sisters can't even find a job. And you wantto talk about sovereingntry while our children are killing each other, dropping out of school, going to bed hungry, being raised by difunctional people....need I go on.Ste

I am fortunate to live in Boston. We have our issues/concerns just like you but no way to that degree.

Hi Stella, here is a link that is more than worth taking a look at. It's about the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative. These residents came together, instead of continuing to wait for their leaders to do it, because it was obvious the leaders were not focusing on what was best for the residents. THE MONEY IS GONE FROM THE CITY i seen a program on tv today and the housing market is the worst in the USA the murder rate is going up and the education level is at its lowest point this is where black America needs to call on its leadership and start to formulate a plan of action and demand that the government do something to improve the life of all the people that are suffering ! what we need is a black tea party !

You and Dorothy have missed my point. Stella the problems of all Black Americans rises to a higher level than your complaints. I am not against you, Dorothy or White America. What I am saying is that your way of thinking cannot resolve the problems. The solution must resolve the problems for all 41 million Black Americans that are scattered across this country and that solution must be permanent. I guess what I am saying is that the solutions you offer, that is holding the elected officials accountable is not strong enough to resolve the problems of all Black Americans in White America. Am I making any sense with you? What I am saying is that Black Americans need a special one person who could resolve the problems of the entire Black American population at one time.

For instance, the children of Israel were under siege as Black Americans are under siege. Then came a special one person, Moses permanently resolved the problems of the entire population of the children of Israel. Do you understand the principle of what I am saying?

Now, Dorothy said that Black Americans are living in the United States. Well, the children of Israel were living in Egypt, but that did not stop the resolution or the Exodus from happening on behalf of the children of Israel. Now did it? The answer is no, am I right.

Our only permanent solution is that we must desire to become a sovereign people or have complete independence from White America on a portion of this continent that we could worship God, pursue life, liberty, happiness and prosperity in our own way.

Mauguerite you are on point. A friend of mine is involved with this group. I live within blocks from this community. I have already asked my friend to get me some info for Stella. It is amazing what a small group can do .
Mr. Watley, we can't even think about moving somewhere else until we learn to take care of where we are. Where is the money coming from?

Stella I agree with you 100%. The people in the City of Detroit have no leadership or proper guidance. The Politicians are just concerned with padding their own pockets. We need more people like you to speak up and be heard because too many people are closing their eyes plugging their ears. No one wants to hear the truth, But the truth of the matter is the voice of the people need to be heard. Where are the Pastors and the people in the pulpit? Are we going to keep evading the truth? We need to make a difference people. You have my support because I would like to help make a difference for Black America. They call me the "People Educator" but it is nice to know that you are also a People Educator.

Thank you Dorothy. @ Stella, I have been involved in my own community for over 18 yrs and will send you information and helpful tips from time to time. 1st tip: Get a group of liked minded people that are willing to do the work necessary, you can start with a total of 5 (enough needed to form the board for your own non-profit) they must be willing to keep keeping on even when it gets rough.

Stella what everyone such as Dorothy, Burgess, David and Peoples are telling is the same as what Mr. Frederick Douglass, WEB Dubois, the NAACP, Booker T. Washington and the Nation of Islam basically were all trying to make life better for Black Americans, am I right.

However, today you, Stella is experiencing over a hundred years of failure. In addition, Dorothy, Burgess, David and Peoples are encouraging you to repeat what Booker T. Washington and Mr. Frederick Douglass did. Consequentially, your children's children will be repeating what you are presently doing a hundred years from now if you continue on the same crazy path. Am I making any sense?

As to Ms. Dorothy's question, that Black Americans cannot think about moving. Well, I am not implying that we move anywhere of this continent. However, a change is coming that a portion of this continent Black Americans of going to inherit that we could call our very own country with borders to worship God, pursue life, liberty, happiness and prosperity in our own way. To become a sovereign people or have complete independence from White America is our only permanent solution. Until you all understand and embrace what I am saying we will continue to stay a dumb people, am I right.

Our permanent solution has to reach beyond resolving Stella's problems. I will permanent solution must resolve the problems of all 41 million Black Americans. It will take a special individual for this to happen. But firstly you ought to consider whether what I am saying makes any sense or not.

after generations after geneerations and each and every election time promises were made taht therew ould be help in rebuilding for the Black people...

yes they finally rebuilt is but we can no longe afford tolive there any more in a FORMER HISTORICAL BLACK CITY....

Stella, near where I live we have three close inmile's drive law schools...these students are more than glad to help and for no money as it gives them some on hand learings...and some student clubs are more tahn glad to help but we often don't know taht we don't have to be attending colleges to get theminvolved because they are a part of the community...

and a lot of programs projects of the students can help you while at the same time using your needs as research study. the youth are a great resource at all times. (smile)
