What is An Elder?
Definition: The Hebrew word for elder means "beard," and literally speaks of an older person. In the Old Testament elders were heads of households, prominent men of the tribes, and leaders or rulers in the community.
New Testament Elders
The Greek term, presbýteros, meaning "older" is used in the New Testament. From its earliest days, the Christian church followed the Jewish tradition of appointing spiritual authority in the church to older, more mature men of wisdom.
In the book of Acts, the Apostle Paul appointed elders in the early church, and in 1 Timothy and Titus, the office of elder was instituted.
In the church today, elders are spiritual leaders or shepherds of the church. They serve as pastors and teachers and also provide general oversight on financial, organizational, and spiritual matters.
Despite what the world may think, there is nothing weak in being strong in the spiritual discipline of submission. However, it is one of the most difficult disciplines to practice. We want to be independent and strong, and we don't want people to walk all over us. An important part of developing the spiritual discipline of submission is to balance when to be open and humble with knowing when not to let people take advantage of us.
That is how I can apologize by my error when I over looked your statement of “The only people that were scatter throughout all the nations are the people now living in the State of Israel since 1948.”
MY REPLY: Are you talking about the son of Japheth children, the sons of Gomer, the Ashkenazi Jew, which is known as The German Jew in 1948? Which I never got a clear answer to, then I got the run around with a statement of, YOUR WORDS: There is no such thing as German Jews as oppose to Polish Jews..
As an Elder I strive to direct my attention towards this goal, some days are better then others.
