Raven-Symoné to Join ABC’s ‘The View’ as Newest Co-Host
ABC’s morning show “The View” has found a new co-host in the former child star Raven-Symoné. She’ll join the show immediately, the network announced Wednesday. Raven-Symoné, who has made 37 guest host appearances on “The View,” will join the current hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez.
It’s been an unstable time for the 18-year-old show, which is finding strong ratings competition from CBS’s similarly structured “The Talk.” After seven years away, Rosie O’Donnell rejoined the cast last September, then abruptly left in February. Ms. Wallace and Ms. Perez both joined the show last year.
Raven-Symoné is known for her roles in “The Cosby Show” and on the Disney Channel’s “That’s So Raven.” Despite her regular appearances on “The View,” she is not shy about her lack of experience in daytime talk show TV.
“The cast and crew are warm and welcoming and has made the transition into daytime talk easier,” she said in a statement. “I have a lot to learn within this new arena, but being the apprentice of these spectacular women will only make me a better person and talk show host.”
Last year, ABC’s news division took over “The View” from the network’s entertainment side.
She will be very interesting, I'm sure!
