Chicago police officer who fatally shot teen due in court
CHICAGO — A white Chicago police officer charged with murder after a squad car video caught him fatally shooting a black Chicago teenager 16 times returns to court to learn whether he'll be offered bond.
A Monday hearing for Officer Jason Van Dyke comes after days of protests in Chicago over the killing of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald.
A Cook County judge ordered the 37-year-old Van Dyke to remain in custody after he was charged last Tuesday. The judge said he wanted to see the video before deciding the issue of bond.
