Given the horror stories that are routinely covered by the media, it’s easy to understand how people with no personal experiences with pit bulls could think they are all ticking time bombs. Greg Heynen was one of them. Until he saw the amazing thing that his wife’s dog Zack did after his daughter was born…

This is Greg’s story:

My wife and I owned two dogs that we had owned before we met and brought into the marriage. Her dog was a pit bull/Labrador cross named Zack, and he hated me. When our daughter was born, I said to the wife, ‘If he so much as nips at the baby, he’s gone.’

..." Dirtbag neighbor kids... poisoned him"...

I don't know how to feel about this... calling kids ... dirtbags kind a diminished the story for me... Humans are of precious value over animals is what I thought.

I understand Sister Fa, but the real story is, about Zack the dog that another Human loved and the way Zack showed love back. Just look at that picture, that is the story.

Thanks for your thoughts.

@ Deac,

I think you are correct but calling kids, dirtbags is unacceptable. It seems that people are confused these days and value animals over humans unless of course that human being is someone close to them. We can't go around calling kids dirtbags. The person that owned the pet in the article is sort of a real buzzkill.... that one remark alone, canceled out the entire story.

Now if that dog owner had call a kid, "dirtbag" to his or her face, that is where I would draw that line Sister Fa. Great point.

Brother Deacon,

Its in print for all to see... though. Plus its the principle of the matter. Kids aren't dirt bags. Naughty, mischievous ... yes. Dirtbags... no.

Sister Fa,

What would you call a kid or a teen with death on there mind and then carried it out on a pet that your child loved?

What would you call that kid?

Hello Family!

My Wife and I once owned a 'Lab mixed with Pit-Bull.' He was very gentle and loved children. Our niece who was diagnosed with Austio Sarcoma (Hope I spelled it right), was a special attention case for 'Buster.' They had never before met...when they did, he never left her side. He somehow knew that she was ill. It's been reported that animals have a certain sense for those who are terribly sick. That was back several years... The dog has passed on while our niece lost her fight with the disease just a day before her twelfth birthday.

Thanks for posting this article Brother Deacon.

Peace...
