Donald Trump v Bernie Sanders: confusion reigns over possible debate

Confusion reigned on Thursday over a possible debate between Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders.

After kicking off a media frenzy by accepting an offer to debate Sanders, Trump changed his mind at least twice in the same day when pressed about whether he was serious about the prospect.

Addressing reporters on Thursday in his first press conference after crossing the threshold of delegates needed to become the Republican nominee, Trump reiterated his willingness to debate Sanders for charity to the tune of at least $10m.

This came after Trump’s campaign said earlier in the day that the Republican was only joking when he first expressed his openness to debating Sanders during an appearance on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday.

HE WAS ONLY WHAT? "JOKING!!!" trump was only joking about making his polices clear to the American people! "WOW!"

This man flip flopped twice just one day after he said that he would debate Bernie. Why?

Steve Williams Saturday, May 28th 2016 at 7:30PM

Did you see the video Ron?

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Saturday, May 28th 2016 at 9:46PM

YES, I did and now today I heard that he will not debate Burnie and that he was just JOKING, did he look like he was joking in the video Steven? He was BULL 💩ING, when will you learn?

Now I also learned that he had BULL💩ED the veterans too! When will you learn?

Jimmy Kimmel is a comedian. Of course Trump was joking. Do you really think Bernie could raise 10 million for charity?

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Sunday, May 29th 2016 at 7:20AM

Ten million dollar is no joke, is it Steven?

Steve Williams Sunday, May 29th 2016 at 7:26AM

What did Bernie say to the 10 million?

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Sunday, May 29th 2016 at 8:19AM

I see that you are still running from the question. Sanders quickly responded with a tweet reading, "Game On. I look forward to debating Donald Trump in California before the June 7th primary."

Bernie's reply was "GAME ON!!"

That meant that 10 million was no problem Steven.

Now let us take a look at The Donald response to Bernie's reply in the news today: Donald Trump Declines to Debate Bernie Sanders http://newsworms.com/2016/05/29/donald-tru... Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks said in an email there were no formal plans yet for a debate. Bernie Sanders because it would be "inappropriate" to square off against the candidate who now trails Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary fight.

This is how Trump answers the challenge, through "EMAIL" and a THRID PARTY SPOKES PERSON, what a shame.

Donald Trump Refuses to Debate Bernie Sanders: "There is a reason why in virtually every national and statewide poll I am defeating Donald Trump, sometimes by very large margins and nearly always by far larger margins than Secretary Clinton". This points to "hypothetical" being the operative word in "hypothetical general election" polling.

On Wednesday, Trump suggested a willingness to debate Sanders during a guest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, provided the proceeds went to charity.

Trump said in a statement Friday that "it seems inappropriate that I would debate the second place finisher", criticizing front-runner Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz as "crooked".

This is just another FLIP FLOP from The Donald. This is after The Donald's handlers got hold to him. "Chicken TRUMP," is all on tweeter.

So far, I have seen heard a word or seen The Donald talk about this subject. Now Donald is under fire from the VET'S.

Trump, on the other hand, did admit that the money he promised had not been donated and that his campaign, who said it was already doled out, was lying. But that was false: Trump had not.

Of course, this could all be solved through a simple Trump campaign disclosure of donations received that night and a list of donations sent out (or that plan to be sent out) to the various veterans groups.

The candidate refused to provide details.

The Veterans are waking up to The Donald, when will you Steven?

Then Mr. Sanders’s campaign manager, Jeff Weaver, pressed the issue on Friday, releasing a statement saying that the Sanders campaign had received offers from two networks wishing to host the debate and make “a major contribution to charity.”

What exactly is a "major contribution to charity"?

Steve Williams Sunday, May 29th 2016 at 11:56AM

Sounds to me like Bernie wasn't able to secure the money.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Sunday, May 29th 2016 at 2:43PM

Thank You Steven for providing this link because if you read this article with any understanding and you gave me something, that proves my points. According to your link, you know that the monies was no problem. Let us take this chain of events one at a time according to the link you provided.

1. At a news conference in North Dakota on Thursday, Mr. Trump suggested that he would debate on the condition that the networks donate $10 million to $15 million to charities that support women’s health causes.

Now as soon as he got off that program, after his handlers got through with him, trump flip flopped and started looking for ways out from what he had done.

2.Then Mr. Sanders’s campaign manager, Jeff Weaver, pressed the issue on Friday, releasing a statement saying that the Sanders campaign had received offers from two networks wishing to host the debate and make “a major contribution to charity.”

Now soon as trump got the word, that monies was no problem, trumps teams went into over time, trying to find a way out so, they came up with this tweet: Donald J. Trump on Friday rejected an offer to debate Bernie Sanders before the June 7 California primary, saying, “It seems inappropriate that I would debate the second-place finisher” in the Democratic nominating contest.

I guess the Donald was just BULL 💩ING here too?

Steve Williams Sunday, May 29th 2016 at 4:16PM

Show me wher Bernie said he got a commitment from a media outlet for 10-15 millions.

Steve Williams Sunday, May 29th 2016 at 4:17PM

"where"

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Sunday, May 29th 2016 at 5:14PM

According to Jeff Weaver Bernie's campaign manager. All of that is is in the link you provided for me to read.

Steve Williams Sunday, May 29th 2016 at 7:30PM

He said major contribution. That could be anything above $27.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Sunday, May 29th 2016 at 8:10PM

Be for real Steven. The major TV networks was set to put up that money because that would have been the most watched debate in recent times. The monies generated would have been in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

Steven, just looking at your comments here recently, reflex small thinking on your part.

Trump was scared off because he knows that Burnie would have handed him is head at that debate.
