The latest Quinnipiac University poll for the battleground states of Colorado and Virginia show Hillary Clinton ahead by solid margins against her Republican rival Donald Trump, and slightly ahead in Iowa.

“The scary thing for Republicans in the Virginia and Colorado numbers is that they show a possible Hillary Clinton landslide in states that only eight years ago leaned GOP and before that had been GOP strongholds,” said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

Here are the poll results for the head-to-head match-up:

Colorado – Clinton beats Trump 49 – 39 percent;

Iowa – Clinton at 47 percent to Trump’s 44 percent;

Virginia – Clinton tops Trump 50 – 38 percent..

With third party candidates added to the poll survey:

Colorado – Clinton leads Trump 41 – 33 percent, with 16 percent for Libertarian Gary Johnson and 7 percent for Green Party candidate Jill Stein;

Iowa – Clinton at 41 percent to Trump’s 39 percent, with Johnson at 12 percent and Stein at 3 percent;

Virginia – Clinton tops Trump 45 – 34 percent with 11 percent for Johnson and 5 percent for Stein

A FOX 2 Detroit/Mitchell poll, also released today, also showed Hillary Clinton up big: 10 points in a head-to-head match-up, 11 points when third party candidates were added in.

But the news wasn’t all bad, as Trump was ahead by 11 points in Indiana, according to a Monmouth poll released today. Indiana went for Barack Obama in 2008 in an upset, but swung back to the Republicans in 2012. No Democrat has won the state, other than in 2008, since Johnson won in the landslide year of 1964.

Magellan has Trump up by 15 points in the reliably Republican state of Mississippi.
In the one general election poll released today, Economist/YouGov has the race at Clinton by 5 points. The pollster has had the race at 5 points since August 1. In their last poll on July 25 they reported the race at only 2 points for Hillary Clinton.
