Why were Joseph, Moses, and Paul mistaken for Egyptians?
Background for our learning :
Ham had four sons: Cush (Ethiopians / C u s h i t es & Nubians), Mizraim (Egyptians / Khemet), Phut (Ancient Libyans or Somalia), and Canaan (Canaanite, the original inhabitants of the land of Israel) Genesis 10:6-19.
Edit: Ancient Egyptians (Mizraim) were of Hamitic lineage.
So, why were Joseph, Moses, and Paul mistaken for Egyptians which were Mizraim's people?
Joseph: "And Joseph's ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt... And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him" (Genesis 42:3-8).
Moses: "Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters: and they came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father's flock. And the shepherds came and drove them away: but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock. And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that ye are come so soon to day? And they said, an Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds..." (Exodus 2:19).
Paul: "And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek? Art not thou (Paul) that Egyptian, which before these days madest an uproar... But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew" (Acts 21:37-39).
Was it simply their style of dress that fooled others or was it something else? What do you think?

Harry, Paul was a black Roman who was mistaken for Egyptian and an Ethiopian, that means African to you. See, you will not find the word "African" in The Holy Bible (KJV).
