The NRA, as an organization, has been providing firearms training, competition, and safety programs since its inception in 1871.The Law Enforcement Division (LED) of the NRA was established in 1960 specifically to provide the law enforcement community with a means to certify law enforcement firearm instructors. We also offer law enforcement firearm competitions, as we believe competition is a direct extension of training. Since 1962 we have conducted the National Police Shooting Championships, as they are known today. In 2008, we began an exciting new multi-gun law enforcement competition called the Tactical Police Competition, or TPC.The Law Enforcement Division is here to assist the law enforcement and military in any capacity it can.

LEOSA Laws by State

The Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) is a federal law, enacted in 2004, that allows qualified current law enforcement officers and qualified retired law enforcement officers to carry a concealed firearm in any jurisdiction in the United States, regardless of state or local laws, with certain exceptions.

The information included within this site is to be used by those who are currently qualified under LEOSA or are looking for information on becoming qualified to carry a firearm under LEOSA.

Due to the complexity of qualification requirements by various states, the NRA provides this information as a service to our many law enforcement members.

The map and laws are included as a tool to assist you in validating your information. We have made every effort to report the information correctly, however, information is subject to frequent change. The information is not intended as legal advice or a restatement of law and does not include any other factor which may limit recognition. For any particular situation, a licensed local attorney must be consulted for an accurate interpretation. YOU MUST ABIDE WITH ALL LAWS: STATE, FEDERAL AND LOCAL.

Did you know that for the last 56 years, the NRA Law Enforcement Division has been supporting the nation's law enforcement officers (LEOs) with specific firearms training certification, competitions, benefits and more? It's true: Your NRA is a stalwart friend not only to law-abiding citizens who care about the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, it's also an ally to those who help uphold the law and maintain the integrity of the "thin blue line." Here are five ways that you may not have known the NRA helps to support America's LEOs.

1. Training and Materials
The NRA has been training Americans in the safe and accurate use of firearms since 1871, so it's only natural that we're a resource for LEO-specific training for instructors who then go on to train officers in their home districts. Since 1960, the NRA has trained more than 55,000 law enforcement firearm instructors—an incredible 13,000 of whom are currently active. Our instruction is provided by active and former police officers, so it's tailored to the needs of LEOs. Our courses are continually updated with the most cutting-edge techniques so that LEOs have all the tools they need to stay safe in the field. Because NRA is a non-profit organization, we're able to offer this training for significantly less than for-profit schools; our 2017 rates are just $645. Click here for our training schedule, eligibility requirements and equipment requirements. We also offer training materials and manuals for purchase; click here to see what's available!

2. Benefits
The NRA offers a variety of special insurance benefits and scholarships for LEOs who are NRA members and their families. One is automatic; the NRA offers a $35,000 benefit to the next of kin for any public LEO killed in the line of duty who was an active NRA member at the time of his or her passing. Another automatic benefit is the Jeanne E. Bray Scholarship, which offers a $2,500 payout per semester (for up to eight semesters) for the children or dependents of current or retired LEOs who are active members, and the dependents and children of LEOs killed in the line of duty who were active members at the time of their passing. Retired LEOs can also opt for NRA's Endorsed Insurance Program, which offers discounted self-defense coverage for retired law enforcement officers and off-duty police officers with NRA membership, starting for only $50 a year. We also offer liability insurance for NRA-certified law-enforcement instructors. Click here for more details on NRA benefits for LEOs and their families.

3. Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award
Since 1993, NRA's Law Enforcement Division has recognized exceptional acts or service by LEOs with the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award. The NRA Officer of the Year receives coverage in NRA Publications and an engraved firearm from Smith & Wesson. We accept nominations from anyone who can attest to the LEO's outstanding service. For more information, click here for the NRA Officer of the Year Nomination Form or call (703) 267-1649.

4. Competitions
The National Police Shooting Championships (NPSC) is held each year in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and is open to law-enforcement professionals from all over the world. It's not an invitation-only match, and you don't have to be a High Master to shoot; in fact, you don't even have to have competed in a NRA Police Pistol Combat Tournament or hold a Police Pistol Combat (PPC) classification. The 2017 match will be held September 18 through 20—click here for more information!

5. Free Newsletter
NRA's Law Enforcement Division offers a free quarterly newsletter with all the latest information on the division's activities and what we can do to help you. You can sign up to have it delivered to you, or just visit our website and download the .pdf whenever you like. Click here for more information!

This blog is not about the platform of The NRA. Did you see this video? Because if you did, even you can see that, that is why you are run interference and the misdirection of this blog.

Now I understand that LaPierre head of The National Rifle Association's or I should say executive vice president and CEO Wayne LaPierre tried to slammed Democrats for their reaction to the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida, and warned of government overreach extending far beyond the limiting of fire arms.

Hey Steve, did you see these thing in the video?

"What they want is more restrictions on the law-abiding," LaPierre said on stage at the Conservative Political Action Conference outside Washington. "They want to sweep right under the carpet the failure of school security."

Now Steve, let us get back on top and explore this notion to why the NRA is opposed to strength back ground checks, raise the age limit to 21

Deacon Ron Gray
The NRA was the first to bring up stronger background checks, way before the Parkland shooting. We don’t want the age limit raised because rifles are used for hunting and all across the country there are young hunters who are competent to buy a rifle when they become adults at age 18. I myself bought my first shotgun when I was 16 and my first handgun when I was 21. I’ve never been much interested in hunting with a rifle but I support the youth who are.

Yes Ron, I suffered through your ENTIRE video. I listened interminably to Joe & Co ignorantly trash the NRA and law enforcement. And that’s why I gave you three factual references on the NRA’s law enforcement MEMBERS.

P.S. The President at CPAC didn’t mention raising the age for rifles. It won’t fly with the voters and he knows it.

The governor of Florida did mention raising the age for rifles and he has the power to make this happen.

The governor of Florida has the power to legislate?

Even after you have posted this wonderful article that Gov. Scott Announces Major Action Plan to Keep Florida Students Safe Following Tragic Parkland Shooting, You still think that The Governor of Florida don't have the power to legislate to correct the GUN LAWS in his state?

YOUR WORDS: No he doesn’t. Saturday, February 24th 2018 at 5:27PM why do you think that Steve?

Saturday, February 24th 2018 at 6:38PM
Deacon Ron Gray
“I will be WORKING WITH the legislature...” He will fail but he may get some votes for appearing to try.

The Florida Legislature is the Legislature of the U.S. State of Florida. It is organized as a bicameral body composed of an upper chamber, the Senate, and a lower chamber, the House of Representatives. Article III, Section 1 of the Florida Constitution, adopted in 1968, defines the role of the Legislature and how it is to be constituted.[6] The Legislature is composed of 160 State Legislators (120 in the House and 40 in the Senate). The primary purpose of the Legislature is to enact new laws and amend or repeal existing laws. The Legislature meets in the Florida State Capitol building in Tallahassee.[7]

Who is this new NRATV Spokeswoman, which she spews that course of FAKENESS, that woman said this: “All of you in the MEDIA love mass shootings.” Now that was kind of the – you know, the rhetoric from her that was turned up, in this way, that was pretty remarkable don’t you think?

Do you agree with this statement: “All of you in the MEDIA love mass shootings.” If you do why?

Saturday, February 24th 2018 at 7:05PM
Deacon Ron Gray
I 'am shock to see that businesses are pulling away from THE NRA, WOW!!!

Saturday, February 24th 2018 at 7:40PM
Deacon Ron Gray
Her words were "Many in legacy media love mass shootings”. Having seen CNN’s fake “town hall”, I have to agree.

Agree to what Steve?

With this statement of Dana Loesch. THE STATEMENT YOU ASKED ME IF I AGREE WITH!!! What’s wrong with you Ron?
Sunday, February 25th 2018 at 12:30AM
Steve Williams
What makes you agree with Dana Loesch THAT WAS THE OTHER PART OF THE QUESTION STEVE?

Sunday, February 25th 2018 at 1:49AM
Deacon Ron Gray
Because the media promotes mass shootings. They promote soft targets. For proof just look at the history of the failure of the gun free school zone law.

The father of modern mass school shootings

“The sharp spike in school shootings since 1990 makes clear that Joe Biden is the father of the modern mass school shooting. He has made it safe for gunmen to victimize schoolchildren.”

Sunday, February 25th 2018 at 9:44AM
Steve Williams
Steve, really, what do Joe Biden and this recent comment of Dana Loesch RATV Spokeswoman, which she spews that course of FAKENESS, that woman said this: “All of you in the MEDIA love mass shootings, have in common?

Have you lost the direction of this conversation or what?

Sunday, February 25th 2018 at 6:32PM
Deacon Ron Gray
Joe Biden and Dana Loesch have nothing in common. Protect the schools. Stop enabling and profiling from mass murder Ron.
Sunday, February 25th 2018 at 7:03PM
Steve Williams
If Joe Biden in that link you posted, have nothing in common with Dana Loesch RATV Spokeswoman, which she spews that course of FAKENESS, that woman said this: “All of you in the MEDIA love mass shootings, then why did you bring Joe to this conversation?

Sunday, February 25th 2018 at 7:56PM
Deacon Ron Gray
Because Ron, Joe Biden’s gun free school zone law and the mass hysteria media, are responsible for these school shootings, not the NRA.

The AR 15 assault weapon is the weapon of choice is the issue and even BIG BUSINESS see the wrong in what The National Rifle Association NRA position is in this matter, as they quickly pull their monies from that organization.
Monday, February 26th 2018 at 3:38AM
Deacon Ron Gray
Nobody is pulling money from the NRA. NRA membership surges every time you all get hysterical about the AR. I got my NRA membership after the Sandy Hook AR ban hysteria. I bought my first AR after the Orlando shooting hysteria. And I converted to the 300 Blackout AR for suppressed loads after Hillary’s post Las Vegas hysteria about silencers. That’s why I say you and your ilk are the biggest promoters of the AR ever.

What do you think cutting tides mean? Here, take a look and read this article for more understanding: Growing list of companies are cutting ties with NRA http://blackinamerica.com/cgi-bin/blog.cgi?blog_id=332447&cid=10

These companies had marketing agreements with the NRA. That means they perceived a marketing benefits in being associated with the NRA. Now they don’t. There was never any money given by them to support the NRA and the NRA won’t be disadvantaged by loosing these marketing agreements. Members don’t pay dues to get discounts and this hype by the media only increases support for the 2nd Amendment.
Monday, February 26th 2018 at 9:02AM
Steve Williams
Members don’t pay dues to get discounts Steve I know that. The NRA expands these marketing agreements with these many businesses as a benefit to the membership to The NRA. Steve, this is what you see leaving the NRA and dropping their ties and support as fast as possible because those businesses don't want to be affiliated with this NRA anymore..
Monday, February 26th 2018 at 9:42AM
Deacon Ron Gray
It’s a simple business decision Ron. It doesn’t affect us. You won’t get an AR ban or an age restriction on rifles.

I know Steve, that is the reason why Big Business is running like hell from The NRA. GOOD!!!

Monday, February 26th 2018 at 10:41AM

After hearing this: "Many in legacy media love mass shootings.” No wonder why Business is running like hell from that NRA statement.

Nobody cares about this corporate BS. We care about the safety of our students but the media just LOVES mass murder.
