Steve, type in your search engine this title: "Is a 17 year old considered an adult?"
No, a 17 year old is still a teenager, however, if the child is emancipated they will be considered an adult with adult responsibilities.
In the last few years, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Mississippi, Rhode Island and Connecticut have raised the age of who is automatically considered an adult by the criminal justice system to 18.
Steve, The age at which one is considered a legal adult in the US is typically 18. What defines a legal adult is ability to legally work, participate in contracts, vote, marry, give s*xual consent, and join the military. Being a legal adult under 21 does not give one the right in most states to purchase alcohol, however.
The age one becomes a legal adult in the US is largely the age at which most children are considered adults in the world. A few countries set this age lower, but in most of the Western world, one is considered an adult at 18.
In short, if you don't believe me, you get caught having a romantic relationship with a child who is 17 years old and get arrested for it and see what happens to you.
Now what adult you know of who can't vote?

BY GOD'S LAW RON. When I was 16, I took a month during that summer and hitchhiked from Pennsylvania to Mississippi to Wisconsin to Minnesota and back home. Not a CHILD. When I was 17, I dropped out of school, worked full time doing industrial heating and plumbing, and drove into Philly every day in my own car during the 1973 oil crisis. Not a CHILD. Stop coddling David Hogg and other young men. You're destroying our nation.

I disagree with your question Ron. But I told you way back that I don't think Ingraham went nearly far enough with her criticism of Hogg. In that sense, she did handle him with kid gloves.

Ask Laura Ingraham how that foot feels from that High school child. After ginning up threats of an advertiser boycott and forcing an apology out of Fox News host Laura Ingraham, gun-control activist David Hogg went on CNN and called her a bully.
On the show, Mr. Hogg repeated his refusal of Ms. Ingraham’s Holy Week apology, saying it was only to save her advertisers.
That move by David Hogg, a High School child threw a right hand and struck fire with Ms. Ingraham’s advertisers, forcing her to get off FOX NEWS Air, after offering, what some call "This weak ass apology: "

Laura Ingraham took an already planned vacation for the week after Easter and will be back on Monday. Be sure to watch Ron, she's a great alternative to that buffoon Lawrence O'Donnell.
