Did you see this video report Steve? Because people are dying because they can't afford something as essential as insulin. Don't you give a damn about that Steve?

This blog is not about what you know or what you can afford. I did not want the see this cold hearted, selfish, narcissistic, narrow-minded and egomaniacal side of you but, this too is apart of you..

What about the people who can't afford $25 for something so essential as insulin, Steve? That is what this Blog is about. You did see this blog material, didn't you?

If $25 a month is too expensive then I'd say you have unrealistic expectations Ron. If you want to do something to help then educate people how to make good choices to avoid becoming diabetic.

Let's do some math Ron. Insulin is about $0.28 per unit. 25 units is a substantial daily dose. 25 units a day for a month is $210. Are you telling me this guy was doing something like 120 units a day? Wow!

Steve, did you know that In 1996, when Eli Lilly debuted its Humalog brand of insulin, the list price of a 10-milliliter vial was $21?

The price of the same vial of insulin is now $275.

Steve, The global insulin market is dominated by three companies: Eli Lilly, the French company Sanofi and the Danish firm Novo Nordisk. All three have raised list prices to similar levels. According to IBM Watson Health data, Sanofi's popular insulin brand Lantus was $35 a vial when it was introduced in 2001; it's now $270. Novo Nordisk's Novolog was priced at $40 in 2001, and as of July 2018, it's $289.

Here's is more evidence Steve Skyrocketing cost of insulin causes some desperate diabetics to ration https://www.nwherald.com/2019/01/10/skyrocketing-cost-of-insulin-causes-some-desperate-diabetics-to-ration/a40mowy/

YOUR LIE STEVE: What I know Ron is I can get insulin at Walmart for $25 a vial.

THAT'S GOOD you got insurance but this blog is this:.

Steve, At the same hearing, a father from Maine told senators that a 90-day prescription for just one of his son's insulins would cost him $1,489.46. That's with his high-deductible insurance. He testified that he has taken to buying the same three-month supply from a Canadian pharmacy for about $300 plus $50 in shipping. (It's technically illegal to import medication from other countries, but the Food and Drug Administration generally doesn't prosecute individuals if it's a short-term supply for personal use.) He is not alone in his dilemma: The website GoFundMe has thousands of posts with people pleading for help to pay for insulin.

Consider yourself Blessed.

Watch your mouth Ron. Go down to Walmart and ask what their price is for Novolin N (long acting) and Novolin R (short acting). Over the counter, not copay, they are $25. The reason is because of something else that Chris got wrong.

If that is true, you need to shout that information to the roof tops because far to many Americans are dying because Steve, At the same hearing, a father from Maine told senators that a 90-day prescription for just one of his son's insulins would cost him $1,489.46.

The situation with long acting insulin and short acting insulin is different. Both Novolin N and Novolin R are human insulin. My doctor is okay with me using the short acting Novolin R, taken with meals. I had an interesting experience at Walmart regarding this one. The clerk accidentally pulled Novolog instead of Novolin, and it rang up at something like $250. I got a look at the packaging and it looked like the difference between Novolin and Novolog is the packaging. I'm going to ask my doctor about this.

My doctor doesn't approve Novolin N because it's human insulin, as opposed to the modern long acting insulins like Lantus. It needs to be taken every 12 hours and Lantus and the others are every 24 hours. Lantus costs me $30 a month through Part D but I stayed alive for 2 years using Novolin N, until I recently got back on Part D. For some time before I was able to enroll in Part D my doctor gave me samples which the suppliers are happy to provide.

That is great news Steve and I hope that part D continues function that way, since that of Trump threat to overhaul Medicare is over.

Unfortunately, this was a 26 year old man who needed insulin who died because that young man was kicked off his fathers insurance and that is what cost his son, for a 90-day prescription for just one of his son's insulins would cost him $1,489.46 a month to live.

YOUR WORDS: Why are you worried about insulin costs Ron?

MY REPLY: Because people are dying because they can't afford something as essential as insulin.

Now that you know how much it cost for people living with diabetes without health insurance are you Alright with the high RUNAWAY cost of insulin?
