Whitmer, during a Sunday morning appearance on CBS’ Face The Nation, accused Republican leadership of offering “comfort and support” to domestic terrorists.

“I do believe there are still serious threats that groups like this group are finding comfort and support in the rhetoric coming out of the Republican leadership in the White House to our state house,” said the Democratic governor.

Whitmer was the target of an alleged months-long plot involving 13 men—seven of whom were members of local Michigan militia group Wolverine Watchmen—planning to capture the governor at her vacation home.

The FBI announced Thursday that it had infiltrated and foiled the plot, which went as far as surveilling Whitmer’s home on two separate occasions, inspecting the underside of a bridge in a plan to slow police response and practicing the detonation of a bomb against human silhouette targets.

Seven of them are probably conspirators but the other seven will NOT be proved to be "domestic terrorists."

The seven charged by Michigan are all charged with material support of terrorism (to paraphrase). There are no charges of any actual terrorism. And you Ron will find no proof to the contrary. That's why Nessel hedged as to whether she can prove the charges.

LANSING — A Wisconsin man faces state charges in connection with an alleged kidnapping plot targeting Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a spokesman for Attorney General Dana Nessel said Thursday.

The new defendant — the eighth charged by Nessel — brings the total number of state and federal defendants in the case to 14.

Brian Higgins, 51, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, is charged with material support of an act of terrorism, a 20-year felony, Nessel's office said in a news release. Higgins allegedly helped in the plan to kidnap Whitmer from her vacation home.

Brian Higgins, 51, of Wisconsin Dells, faces charges related to what the FBI says was a plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer..
Specifically, Higgins, "provided the use of his night-vision goggles for the surveillance," of the cottage, according to an affidavit. "Additionally, he used a mounted digital dash camera located in his vehicle to record the surveillance of the governor’s home in order to aid in kidnapping plans."

Higgins was arrested Thursday in Wisconsin and will be extradited to Michigan for arraignment in Antrim County 86th District Court, the release said. Court dates have not been scheduled.
