One of his former executives says Trump 'deserves to go to jail' ahead of New York prosecutors potentially filing criminal charges

By Sarah Al-Arshani

New York prosecutors could announce criminal charges against the Trump organization this week.

A former Trump organization executive told CNN Trump deserves to go to jail.

Barbara Res said nothing happened in the organization without Trump knowing about it.

A former executive vice president for the Trump Organization said former President Donald Trump "deserves to go to jail" ahead of potential criminal charges filed by New York prosecutors.

"As far as Trump is concerned, if they were to get evidence against Trump it would be to the extent that nothing major has ever happened to my knowledge.... that he doesn't know about," Barbara Res told CNN's, Jim Acosta.

She added that she knows Trump and she knows that "he's very deliberate, very measured, and very vengeful, and he doesn't follow the rules. He never did follow the rules."

Res was the former EVP of construction and development for the Trump Organization and oversaw the building of the Trump Tower in Manhattan in the 1980s. She spent 18 years managing Trump's real estate empire and worked directly under the former president.

Late last week, prosecutors in Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.'s office spoke with lawyers for Trump and said the Trump Organization and its chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg, could face criminal charges as early as this week.

Trump's lawyers tried to persuade prosecutors to abandon charges against the company.

The charges come after a two-year investigation into if the Trump organization violated New York laws.

Prosecutors also started looking into whether or not Weisselberg's son, Barry Weisselberg, received perks that he didn't pay taxes on. Barry's wife, Jennifer Weisselberg, cooperated with prosecutors and handed over documents and records, she previously told Insider.
