Because 1) we don't know what the long term effect of the vaccine will be on young children,
and 2) because young children already have little chance of serious illness or death.

If you have scientific data to the contrary, the NYT has failed to show it.

Mine are too young. The oldest is 13 and that is too young. A thirteen year-old still has a lot of developing to do. We
should not mess with that. Since they are too young to make their own choice, we must err on the side of caution.

I'm MUCH more at risk than my grandkids so I took the vaccine. I'm not convinced I should
get the booster. Also, my two sons have the right to decide for their own kids what to do
about masks and vaccines. Right now there is very little scientific data on the long-term
effects of the vaccine on adolescents.

NEW YORK — COVID-19 vaccines finally are headed for more kids as U.S. regulators on Monday expanded use of Pfizer’s shot to those as young as 12, sparking a race to protect middle and high school students before they head back to class in the fall.

There is little reason to trust the FDA Ron. The vaccines are TOO NEW. The children of the parents who make the
decision for them to get the vaccine, will make good guinea pigs. Let's see what happens to them over the next
3-5 years at a minimum.

My primary care physician filled out and signed a medical exemption for me just this past Friday. I have a health problem that places me at risk of more serious illness if I take the Covid vaccine, so like they say on "American Idol' and 'The Voice'... "that's a no for me." They can't take my job because I'm already retired from the government, but I'm trying to go back to work, and I'm already armed with my document. I would encourage any and everyone with certain medical conditions to do their own research regarding the effect (or potential effect) of the vaccine may have on their condition and/or its interaction with their medication(s) before taking the shot... just to be safe. Don't stop with the info on the CDC's website. Read current clinical data from outside sources as well. If you're still comfortable with taking the shot afterwards, then by all means go right ahead.

There are charts on the CDC webpage below that will increase one's awareness of the various types of effects posed by the Covid vaccine.
