Autographed Michael Jordan Card Sets Record With $2.7M Sale
A New Jersey auction house announced this week that a signed basketball card that included a piece of a game-worn jersey from the former Chicago Bulls star fetched a cool $2.7 million. The sale shatters the former record for a Jordan card by $600,000, Goldin Auctions announced.
The card — a 1997-98 Upper Deck jersey worn card, was also autographed by Jordan, who is widely considered to be the greatest player in NBA history. The card includes a mesh piece of an All-Star jersey worn by Jordan during his run with the Bulls, which included six NBA championships.
The card graded out at an 8 near-mint while the signature on the card graded out at an 8, according to ESPN. Goldin Auctions founder Ken Goldin told ESPN that the Upper Deck card is considered more valuable that the 1986-87 Fleer rookie card that was once considered the gold standard in Jordan collectables.
