Much has evolved in the lives of these Chicago natives since they gained Oscar-winning status: Hudson won Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 2007 for "Dream Girls," then in 2015, Common won Best Original Song with John Legend for "Glory."
Since then, Common has continued to flex his skills, on screen. He has starred in "John Wick: Chapter 2," "Ocean's Eight," and "The Hate U Give," among others.
After securing an Oscar, Hudson won two Grammy awards: one for Best R&B Album for her self-titled album, "Jennifer Hudson," and another for Best Musical Theater Album for "The Color Purple."
