I've heard people throughout life say that whatever it is that you're good at, is what you should be doing. As if to say, that if you have a knack for something, that knack or skill is your Purpose. The above stands true if what you're doing is simply trying to make money. But if you're trying to do that which not only generates money but also brings you happiness and peace of mind (Success), then you should first try to find your Purpose for being. When you are in line with your Purpose you will generate money with ease. When you align your skills and talents with fulfilling your Purpose you will not only benefit yourself and family with peace, but your community and the world as well.
So let's define "Purpose" and then let us begin to discover Your Purpose. Purpose is defined as "the reason for which something exists." It is the answer to the "Why am I here?" question. Imagine that, millions of people on the planet, with more on the way and only a small percent even know why they are here! You are not taught this in school or at home and are left to figure it out decades later. But, Purpose is the starting point. It is the beginning of all education. It is the guideline to a successful life. Unfortunately that is not where we are at this point, so now we have to backtrack. We have to journey back through our experiences thus far and discover our Purpose.
Rest assure knowing that you are aligned with your Purpose or at least moving positively toward your Purpose when you engage in an activity of which you never tire, become weary or bored at doing. It is the one activity that you do with very little effort but with so much energy, focus and creativity that others watch in amazement and will even pay to experience. It is an activity that draws naturally from the soul and the center of your being and flows out through you to others. When it reaches others, it inspires, and drives them to want to be in line with their own Purpose. This unique activity, your Purpose, has manifested itself many times throughout your life. Your awareness of it darts in and gives you pause and for a brief moment, you have clarity! But then fear and doubt creep in through either your own negative conditioning or through friends and family. At any rate, the clarity passes and the Purpose again becomes lost.
I used to think my purpose was to be a Marine. The desire for that didn't last very long though my skills as a Marine were very strong. I thought at one time my purpose was to be a Graphic Designer. Again, great as a designer but my attention drifted. I got into video production, creating shows thinking that was my purpose. Though I can do this proficiently, my attention still drifted. I had the same situation in teaching Digital Technology. Now if you have had experiences like the above, then at some point many have probably said to you that you have a problem staying focused. You have Attention Deficit Disorder(ADD). But, if that were true, how is it that you are able to focus on other things that require discipline and your "Attention" as well to learn? Your inability to focus at times, are a sign of that which is NOT in line with your purpose. I'm not speaking of being distracted by stray thoughts or background noise. I mean the inability to focus when you have tried your best to acquire a proficiency in certain activities.
People do not lack in the ability to pay attention, they lack in understanding their Purpose and how it affects the subject they are approaching.
Purpose is an innate quality that moves and/or draws you to a predefined activity. A comprehensive knowledge of yourself and the world around you helps to define the boundaries of opportunities on the path of purpose. Skills and Talents help to facilitate the execution of that Purpose.
If you line a person's mind up with their Purpose, ADD will vanish. Self abuse will vanish. Proper focus and creativity will arise and you will see a spectacular student and a definite benefit to the world.
I have come to realize that My Purpose is to guide others to their own greatness. My skills are in technology, education, media content production, motivational speaking, etc. But those skills are engaged via my Purpose. I have a great desire to learn and teach. Not for the Purpose of making money but for a great love to heal one individual at a time. So with that as my base, learning and expressing via my skills becomes easy. Spending hours, days and weeks to acquire a skill becomes easy, if it is in line with my Purpose. You don't have to force me to Pay Attention. I will naturally absorb all the information I need when my Purpose is understood.
Now taking the first step toward actively engaging your purpose is also a challenge. Why? Because your purpose may require another skill set. It may require you to engage activities currently outside of your daily activities. It may require you leaving old friends and associates and engaging new ones. Purpose does not come out of financial and social stability. Financial and social stability will come out of actively engaging your Purpose. Your Purpose may require you to expand your concepts about other Peoples and even God.
How bad do you want peace? How bad do you want a life of success? Your Purpose is who you really are. Being in tune with your Purpose is being yourself. Your Self by nature is success.
