If you have black skin but speak Spanish, which box will you check on a Census? Black or Hispanic? A member asked how is it possible that the black population will remain about the same in that study that found that whites will no longer be a racial majority. Well, we can talk about drugs, AIDS, and other diseases decimating our ranks. Or we can look at what's really going on.
As a Puerto Rican what they are and most will say: Spanish. As a Mexican what he is and he will most likely say "Spanish!" Spanish is a language, No. 1. And the Spanish people are Europeans, like the British and the French. if a Puerto Rican, Dominican or Mexican went to Spain talking about being Spanish they would be run out of that country. They are black. In fact, 80 percent of Mexicans are of African descent. How do you think those pyramids got there? Puerto Ricans are mostly a mixture of Native peoples, Africans and Spaniards. Dominicans are on the island of Hispanola, with Haiti on the other side. Do Dominicans have nappy hair and brown skin?
So are blacks only 12%-15% of the population? Really?
