How do black Americans establish a true power base in America?
Here are some suggestions:
If you are black and an you are an economics or business major you should establish relationships with banks and lending institutions that are owned by established African and/or Caribbean financial institutions. For those of you who have visions of 'the bush' of Kenya when you think of Africa let me remind you that the continent of Africa sports some of the richest nations on the planet as well as the premiere resorts and beaches on the entire globe. Many of their banks are utilized by wealthy white Americans to hide taxable income from Uncle Sam.
Stop dressing like you are running for a US Senate seat or you are auditioning for the next 50 Cent video everyday. Incorporate some authentic African or Caribbean attire into your wardrobe. You will drastically alter the response you receive from white America on a daily basis. Most of that change will be positive.
Choose to spend you time on the Internet, library, cable or satellite provider researching or familiarizing yourself with the continent of Africa and Caribbean nations. Find out what employment and/or educational opportunities are available abroad. The University of Phoenix is not the only online degree you can obtain as a working adult.
if you operate your own retail environment, be sure to market your products overseas to African and Caribbean nations. But please, don't try selling African trinkets to Africans. Instead buy some goods wholesale from an African or Caribbean nation and resell them here. Sam's Club is not the only wholesaler in the world.
Learn languages of African nations which will of course will allow you to communicate better with other nations. Insist that academic institutions in your region offer more second languages than Spanish and French.
Stop copying Europeans and research your history and culture...then emulate it.
