My Job is Going Where???

I am posting this blog across quite a few connect sites. I am a Federal Employee. I have been for most of my adult life. October we heard a rumor that our jobs were in jeopardy. Not only were our jobs moving 2 timezones away, but we were being downgraded as well. We were told that we have to compete for positions that we have had for years, for a smaller paycheck. I am not really cool with either decision being forced on me. I know people are loosing their jobs, and I know there are people who are worse off than I am, like I said in previous blogs, my house payment isn't going down, my utilities bills aren't going down. A lot of people are just going to retire, but I cannot for another 25 years. I am not old enough.

I am trying to live energy wise, trying to save money. My children are all grown, or think they are, all out on their own. I want to adopt a child, but now I wonder if I will be able to afford one. We were told we'd be locked in our pay for 2 years, but a ten k drop would still be a shock.

So, I was talking to a close friend today and decided I would become a consultant. I opened my own business (Executive Retrieval LLC) and I am going to really have to push at making it work. Some of those I lead at work said they would really like to work for me. Heck, if I can collect millions at work, I can do it for me as well, yes?
