Thinking, Thinking Part 2

I know I had trouble figuring out what I wanted to study. Now, I feel I can't make the right decision on which school to choose.

I have an interest in Photography, but the University in my city only has Journalism and a study called Studio Art.

In Journalism, I can learn about Photojournalism, but that's not what I want to do. It seems to be all about the news and reporting. But, I want to be able to take photos of scenery, maybe some portraits, but especially involve art and design.

The Studio Art program the school offers, would only cover a little bit about photography. But, I feel I may work with it to design my own program about Photography. I'm not too sure how that would work.

My other choice of a school to go to is The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Today, I looked and checked every link and have learned about the school. What's new about this college is that it's an Online Division of the Art Institutes; basically 100% online.

But, I find it odd to plan to attend that school because I do not live in Pittsburgh. And also, I just don't see how learning Photography would be like over the Net. But, I do know, I'll be getting lots of support from the faculty and staff.

I'll need to act quickly about this, because the FAFSA form must be completed by Valentine's Day. I kind of regret not thinking of what I really wanted to do after graduating from high school. My family thought I'd make a great Graphic Designer. I though so too, then I later realized my drawing skills were amateur.

Web Design was interesting to me back in eighth grade; last year it wasn't all that fun. When I first got my digital camera, I loved it. I'd take it everywhere with me. I feel that's an interest/hobby that could become a passion of mine.

Whatever you decide--I think you should make it something you'll enjoy doing. I'm sure you'll make a good choice....you at least have some plans and ideals in the making. That's ONLY two cents worth from MIISRAEL. [SMILES]

Blessings..

You seem like a young person that interacts very well socially and an online course may not suit you, best.
I suggest you might want to check out Phoenix Universities, or Albuquerque or even San Diego which seem close to you.

Hey Symone:

Man, you are ACHING to go out into the world and take some pictures.

Bottom line here--nothing can come between a girl and her camera. That is something you can do any time--and you don't have to wait for a college course or a degree. Go for it!!!

But...Robert makes a great point. Online courses have huge limitations. How can you talk things over with your classmates? Who do you ask for help or advice? Sometimes, the best conversations are the ones you have with your classmates outside of class!

I think you will be happy and actually put yourself on a career path at an established school. You can always try it for a semster or two--and if you don't like it you can transfer.

Here is something you can do--find someone who is doing what you would like to, and ask a million questions!!!

And, Symone--please let us know what you decide to do! You have lots of people rooting for you around here!!!

PEACE AND BLESSINGS!

Hey Symone:

A website is a great idea--I think it is a MUST for anyone who wants to get their work 'Out there".

Good to see you are asking lots of questions. Victory goes to the one who is prepared--and you are nothing if not totally THOROUGH!!

And how about posting some of your photos on this site! This is a great opportunity for you--and it is FREE!!!

Good luck!!!!
