And I would agree. Both. I attend church and read the Bible. But the main focus of my spritual practice is in meditation, an ancient prayer practice where I spend two half hours each day just sitting in the pure presence of God.

It is an awesome, life changing practice. I would recommend it for anyone.

I think this is a great question since many people conflate the two or mistake one for the other. They are totally different approaches to God.

I believe it is important to understand the difference.

I would say again...religion is man-made! Its' intention is to control.

Disagreement is Inevitable...

Spirituality, for me, is one with the Land - One with GOD!

Peace and Love,

Greg.

LOL...LOL...

Thank You Ladies:
Your understanding is most welcomed!!!

I was raised in the establishment of the Church...for the most part of my younger life. I've visited many churches of many faiths...and found them all to say the same thing(s)...often times, not in the same way...non-the-less - the same!

Being Careful (as not to offend or argue) - My God is the One God...The GOD OF ALL!

I Feel The Spirit of GOD...The Land...The People...The Love...The Life!

Peace and Love to YOU ONE AND ALL,

Greg.

I would say that I am spiritual. I tried religion, several of them and kept finding myself restless until I made a conscious choice to seek for myself. To say that I am spiritual says that I believe life is multi-dimensional; physical and spiritual and the two must be balanced in order to create harmony. Physical aspect is the body self, the self that is in the external world while the spiritual aspect is the inner world or the thoughts and beliefs you hold regarding the physical world. Hope I didn't ramble on too much. :)

As an NOI member, I don't consider myself religious at all. The way I see it if I was to consider myself as being RELIGIOUS then that would be the same as saying you don't see yourself as a leader, you see yourself as a follower and you are only fixated on the messenger (minister/preacher) and not the message.

However, I consider myself SPIRITUAL because to me it means that I am a leader and am taking the message in the manner that it is being offered without being fixated on the messenger. And we as Black people should all want to be spiritual (a leader).

wiki says:

Traditionally, religions have regarded spirituality as an integral aspect of religious experience. Many do still equate spirituality with religion, but and the growth of secularism in the western world has given rise to a broader view of spirituality.

Secular spirituality carries connotations of an individual having a spiritual outlook which is more personalized, less structured, more open to new ideas/influences, and more pluralistic than that of the doctrinal faiths of organized religions. At one end of the spectrum, even some atheists are spiritual.

I always like to comment after understanding the meaning---

I could be wrong, but the 2010 english definition of "spirituality" is a by product of 1492-1864 paganEuropeanChristian thought.

just as the paganEuropeanChristian had nothing to do with the Spirit that was put into the dust/dirt/water for the making of Adaam and the disregard for that Spirit of the Family of Adaam---

we now have a femaleBIA thats 'comments' , "we all are leaders and we take the message."

What Message?

Siebra Muhammad Thursday, May 27th 2010 at 10:21AM

Robert, I see you want to start an argument with me once again. I'm not in the mood for arguments this morning. I have other business to tend to here.

If you had any ounce of common sense/intelligence in you, you would know that the message is that if we (Black Americans) do what was taught we would unlock the kingdom within ourselves. This was the main message that Elijah Muhammad was trying to get across when we wrote the book "MESSAGE TO THE BLACKMAN". Also this is what Jesus meant by the saying "GREATER WORKS YE SHALL DO."

Also if you are an English major it's obvious your professors ain't teach you **** cause any fool with half a brain knows that names "Siebra", "Abraham" etc.) should always be capitalized because they are proper nouns. So before you jump up and fix your fingers to type some off the wall crap such as "Siebra you are a person who cannot read/write English well" perhaps you should consult your English textbooks and read up on the difference between common nouns and proper nouns.

NOW HAVE A NICE DAY!!!

Dr. Nosakhere,

the little girls' mouth is so filthy, I apologize for letting her loose.

Foolishness and Filth--

NO member of the Family of Elijah Muhammad believes he had any such "message"---yet siebraGumbo, a NOBODY is trying to present Elijah Muhammads' Message?

what a glass of mud!

and then she mentions jesus, the one paganChristians say died on the or the son of Mary--IsaIbnMaryam that AlQur'aan says did NOT die by the romans or jews.

your message is what again?

is it NO SCHOLARSHIP---
