The Shellacked And The Furious: Obama Gets No Love From McConnell

· Thursday, November 4th 2010 at 5:46PM · 924 views
"Yesterday, a damaged and contrite Barack Obama held a White House press conference and took ownership of Tuesday's devastating election results. With the exception of a handful of issues, Obama extended a cooperative hand to the newly emboldened GOP, and suggested a willingness to compromise on everything from tax cuts to energy policy to provisions of his health care law."

"Today, at the conservative Heritage Foundation, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell offered his rejoinder. And the contrast couldn't be more stark: For just about every entreaty Obama made, McConnell just said no."

"'We will stop the liberal onslaught,' McConnell warned."

"That was the basic theme of the speech. If Obama wants to get anything done, he'll have to embrace the GOP's views on spending, tax cuts, and just about everything else."

"'We will make the case for repeal of the health spending bill even as we vote to eliminate its worst parts,' McConnell promised. 'We will vote to freeze and cut discretionary spending. We will fight to make sure that any spending bill that reaches the Senate floor is amendable, so members can vote for the spending cuts Americans are asking for. We will push to bring up and vote for House passed spending rescission bills.'"

"'If the administration wants cooperation, it will have to begin to move in our direction,' said McConnell."

The American population is getting older. President Obama must do something to regain confidence among America's seniors. Government control mixed with an increase in paperwork for seniors to fill out scares them. Efforts to recapture the senior vote will help.

Irma...voting is a privaledge and I exercised my privaledge for sure. You are keen enough to know that I take little to no stock that America has a bright future. Thus, voting may not be as big a priority of mine as it is for some. When it get down to the youth...they want jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs and last month another 497,000 filed unemployment. That is not the kind of thing youth likes to hear.

I got much love for President Obama but I think he is doing a diservice not only to himself but also to Black people in general by constantly backing down and being all apologetic.

After all, it's not Obama's fault that the media takes his words and twists them out of context to make him look like a racist.

Those 2 Sons-Of-A-Bushes committed more crimes than the law allowed during their time in the White House (that our slave ancestors built), and we never hear about them apologizing for ****.

But everytime I turn around someone is forcing Obama into apologizing or begging for forgiveness or understanding for something that isn't any of his fault.

I know he's an extremely intelligent brother but there are certain things that are above and beyond intelligence that reach down into the emotions of people that you can't violate. Obama doesn't owe anyone an apology..he should continue standing tall by his statements..and made Black people all over America proud.

@Ckark, "I" put in my 15 hours working at the poll Tue. We had a great turn out although most people now chose to vote by mail...those who put off mailing their votes in came by the poll and droped their ballots off with us. I do enjoy seeing the parents bring the children in with them to show them the voting process. We always give them an I voted sticker and they are so proud to wear them off to school with them. (smile)

WE STILL HAVE TWO MORE YEARS TO GET IT ALL RIGHT THIS TIME AROUND...OR THIS WHOLE NATION WILL SINK THIS TIME AROUND...NO IFS, ANDS , BUTS OR CONJUNCTIONS...THIS IS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
