This platform stimulates positive ideas, dialogue and solutions. This site is not affiliated with CNN, but does compliment their "Black In America" special reports
-------"Black In America" is more than just a phrase to describe African Americans in the United States. It's a movement that creates awareness and encourages dialogue about relevant issues. The phrase was originally coined by CNN when they produced several documentary-style "Black In America" special reports. The reports brought national attention to issues concerning Black families, men, and women. Since then, several groups and organizations have launched various initiatives to support the cause.

I think, even trying to know words and its definitions improves a growing vocabulary, learning the word true definition in depth and enlightens wisdom and knowledge. It's how one is educated, and its also a part of a learning process.

Here is a word I wish were far better understood.

PRECONCEPTION.

Preconceptions can get us into a great deal of trouble. With a preconception of what a person means or implies, we can arrive at a completely wrong conclusion of what another person really means or intends.

We can put aside our preconceptions and just listen, and ask intelligent questions to clarify the dialogue. We won't agree with every thought of another, but it doesn't mean we need to be uncivilized.

Take the word RACE for example. Robert rejects the definition of race. He has made it clear that there are no racial differences between a Black American and Arabians. b) Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Angels come (to you) in succession by night and day, and all of them get together at the time of Fajr and ‘Asr prayers. Then those who have stayed with you overnight, ascend unto Allâh Who asks them (and He knows the answer better than they): "How have you left My slaves?" They reply, "We left them while they were praying and we came to them while they were praying." The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم added: "If anyone of you says Amîn (during the prayer at the end of the recitation of Sûrat Al-Fâtihah), and the angels in heaven say the same, and the two sayings coincide, all his past sins will be forgiven." (Sahih Al-Bukhâri, Vol.4, Hadîth No. 446)

b) Narrated Hudhaifah رضي الله عنه: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم saying, "A Qattât ** will not enter Paradise." (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol.8, Hadîth No.82).

c) Backbiting and the Statement of Allâah عز وجل: "Do not spy, neither backbite one another."
Narrated Ibn ‘Abbâs رضي الله عنهما: Allâah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم passed by two graves and said, "Both of them (persons in the grave) are being tortured, and they are not being tortured for a major sin. This one used not to save himself from being soiled with his urine, and the other used to go about with calumnies (among the people to rouse hostilities, one goes to a person and tells him that so-and-so says about him such and such evil things)." The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم then asked for a green branch of a date-palm tree, split it into two pieces and planted one on each grave and said, "It is hoped that their punishment may be abated till those two pieces of the branch get dried." *** (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol.8, Hadîth No.78).
* Najsh means to offer a high price for something in order to allure another customer who is interested in the thing.
**A Qattât is a person who conveys disagreeable, false information from one person to another with the intention of causing harm and enmity between them.
***This action was a kind of invocation on the part of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم for the deceased persons. [Fath Al-Bari, Vol.1, Page 332].
