Obama apologizes to aid group for US attack on Afghan clinic

WASHINGTON (AP) � President Barack Obama on Wednesday apologized to Doctors Without Borders for the American air attack that killed at least 22 people at a medical clinic in Afghanistan, and said the U.S. would examine military procedures to determine whether changes could prevent such incidents. Obama's apology came four days after the facility in the northern city of Kunduz came under fire from what was later determined to be a U.S. aircraft. The attack outraged aid groups and complicated U.S. efforts in Afghanistan. White House spokesman Josh Earnest said Obama called the organization's international president, Joanne Liu, and offered condolences to the group's staff.

That air strike is not only embarrassing to me, but is becoming a real sore spot for America. I'm really troubled because I'm a healthcare worker and I feel solidarity to those who lost their lives caring for those in the war torn land.

There should be an independent inquiry but being charged for war crimes is a bit much. Don't you think? I wouldn't be surprised if its just a very bad error on the part of the US sort of how friendly fire happens. My heart felt prayers go out to the families of the healthcare workers/patients being treated that died, the soldiers that have to live with this, and to the DWB personnel who are grieving their colleagues.

Let justice be done.

Jen, DWB stressed how their only protection is to keep all sides in a conflict fully informed where they are operating. They say the U.S. knew exactly where they were.

Perhaps there is more to this story than meets the eye but I would like to give America the benefit of doubt. I personally do not think that we would deliberately harm healthcare workers.

The people that use this term "collateral damage" are the same people that will sit back and watch the police put there knee in the small of a 16 year old Black girls back are the same people that will sit back and watch the police on T.V. and call that justifiable.

The people that use this term "collateral damage" are the same people that will sit back and watch the police beat Rodney King almost to death on T.V. and let those racist police go, will call that Justifiable.

The people that use this term "collateral damage" are the same people that will sit back and watch the police on T.V. choke a Black Man for selling cigarettes will call that justifiable.

Now the U.S. has bombed a hospital and now the term "COLLATERAL DAMAGE" is being used and call that justifiable. Now ani't that is funny?
