Virginia man who died in police custody was shackled, hit with Taser 20 times and denied medical help: report

A Virginia man who died while in police custody was shackled and Tased by officers who denied him medical treatment, according to new information obtained Wednesday.

Linwood (Ray) Lambert, 46, a construction worker, was picked up by cops from the South Boston, Va., police department around 5 a.m. on May 4, 2013.

Officers said at the time they got noise complaints from within the Super 8 Motel where Lambert was staying — and they found him in his room ranting and raving about dead bodies.

The officers put him in their squad car to take to the nearby hospital — and that’s when things really got out of control, MSNBC reported Wednesday.

Nobody has been charged in the ongoing investigation into Lambert’s death — but new video obtained by the news site contains shocking new details about the 46-year-old’s fate.

When Officers Tiffany Bratton, Clifton Mann and Travis Clay bundled Lambert into a squad car, their intention was to take the unarmed man to the nearby ER for a check-up, according to records.

The video obtained by MSNBC shows one of the officers calling ahead to verify there’s a mental health worker on duty.
