September 23rd, 2011. Was anybody surprised when the Republican Party primary voters booed a soldier in combat? Was anybody (anybody) really surprised that none of the pre-candidates sided with the soldier?

Since you want to talk about THE GAYS.

Steve Williams Thursday, August 18th 2016 at 12:31AM

I notice they didn't mention Ron Paul.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Thursday, August 18th 2016 at 7:27AM

Is Ron Paul GAY? Did Ron Paul serve his conutry in the military? Did Ron Paul Boo that GAY military soldier?

Steve Williams Thursday, August 18th 2016 at 8:29AM

Ron, your blog states that none of the candidates sided with the soldier. Ron Paul was a candidate and he did side with the soldier.

Steve Williams Thursday, August 18th 2016 at 8:49AM

the third Republican debate on June 5, 2007, Paul said about the U.S. military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy:

I think the current policy is a decent policy. And the problem that we have with dealing with this subject is we see people as groups, as they belong to certain groups and that they derive their rights as belonging to groups. We don't get our rights because we're gays or women or minorities. We get our rights from our Creator as individuals. So every individual should be treated the same way. So if there is homos*xual behavior in the military that is disruptive, it should be dealt with. But if there's heteros*xual behavior that is disruptive, it should be dealt with. So it isn't the issue of homos*xuality. It's the concept and the understanding of individual rights. If we understood that, we would not be dealing with this very important problem.[150]

Paul elaborated his position in a 65-minute interview at Google, stating that he would not discharge openly gay troops if their behavior was not disruptive.[149]

Ultimately, Paul voted in the affirmative for HR 5136, an amendment that leads to a full repeal of "Don't ask, Don't tell", on May 27, 2010.[155] He subsequently voted for the Don't Ask, Don't Tell Repeal Act of 2010 on December 18, 2010.

Thanks for the history Steven but this is not the June 5, 2007 debate or Ron Paul was for Don't Ask Don't Tell, before he was against it, amendment. This is the September 23rd, 2011 Republican Party primary, when some Republican member in the audience Booing.

Steven, that clip was about Captain Stephen Hill, who served our country for 20 years, 20 years Steven, that is a life time. Captain Stephen Hill ask this question to the republican contenders this: "Do you intend to circumvent the progress that has been made for GAY and LESBIAN soldiers in the military?

Steven, I 'am sure that it was someone stood up for Captain Hill but it was not Ron Paul, that is why he was not mention.

Here are the names of the people who was on that stage and how they ranked at that time:

2012 Republican Nomination for President

Mitt Romney 17% 16%

Herman Cain 17 5

Rick Perry 12 23

Newt Gingrich 8 7

Ron Paul 7 5

Michele Bachmann 4 7

Rick Santorum 3 1

Jon Huntsman 2 1

Ron Paul was there but not word to support Captain Stephen Hill, not a word.

Steve Williams Thursday, August 18th 2016 at 1:39PM

No Ron, the question was given to Santorum only. If Paul voted to repeal don't ask don't tell in 2010, he was still siding with that soldier in 2011.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Thursday, August 18th 2016 at 2:25PM

YOUR WORDS: No Ron, the question was given to Santorum only. If Paul voted to repeal don't ask don't tell in 2010, he was still siding with that soldier in 2011.

In your mind Steven, do the word "REPEAL" means that Ron Paul is in support of that Captain Stephen Hill and the Don't Ask, Don't Tell Act of 2010?

Steve Williams Thursday, August 18th 2016 at 5:54PM

That's exactly what REPEAL means.

"Don't ask, don't tell" (DADT) was the official United States policy on military service by gays, bis*xuals, and lesbians, instituted by the Clinton Administration on February 28, 1994, when Department of Defense Directive 1304.26 issued on December 21, 1993, took effect,[1] lasting until September 20, 2011. The policy prohibited military personnel from discriminating against or harassing closeted homos*xual or bis*xual service members or applicants, while barring openly gay, lesbian, or bis*xual persons from military service. This relaxation of legal restrictions on service by gays and lesbians in the armed forces was mandated by United States federal law Pub.L. 103–160 (10 U.S.C. § 654), which was signed November 30, 1993.[2] The policy prohibited people who "demonstrate a propensity or intent to engage in homos*xual acts" from serving in the armed forces of the United States, because their presence "would create an unacceptable risk to the high standards of morale, good order and discipline, and unit cohesion that are the essence of military capability".[3]

The act prohibited any homos*xual or bis*xual person from disclosing his or her s*xual orientation or from speaking about any homos*xual relationships, including marriages or other familial attributes, while serving in the United States armed forces. The act specified that service members who disclose that they are homos*xual or engage in homos*xual conduct should be separated (discharged) except when a service member's conduct was "for the purpose of avoiding or terminating military service" or when it "would not be in the best interest of the armed forces".[4] Since DADT ended in 2011, persons who are openly homos*xual and bis*xual have been able to serve.[5]

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Thursday, August 18th 2016 at 7:55PM

You are really trying to hard to convince me that you have been busted for LYING and you know, that I know you are wrong in this assessment of the word: ""REPEAL." Let us look at the word "REPEAL."

The word "REPEAL" this word is a verb, meaning is revoke or annul (a law or congressional act):
"the legislation was repealed five months later" Words come to mind like: revoke · rescind · cancel · reverse · annul · nullify · declare null and void · quash · abolish · vacate · abrogate · recall

Now when used as a noun, the word "REPEAL" Meaning is the action of revoking or annulling a law or congressional act: "the House voted in favor of repeal" words come to mind like :: revocation · rescinding · cancellation · reversal and that is what Ron Paul did Steven. Ron Paul was for Don't Ask Don't Tell and then he flipped flopped and voted to "REPEAL" that law.

Speaking of surprises, you shouldn’t be surprised when candidates like Ron Paul, without principles stick their fingers in the wind and change their votes as often as President Obama changes batteries on his teleprompter. But when candidates like Ron Paul claim their position is a principled one (based on the U.S. Constitution), their changes in position almost certainly mean one of two things: Either the candidate has not been candid all along, or he or she is going soft.

Ron Paul previously supported DADT (Don't Ask, Don't Tell).  His recent vote to repeal it is one more thing that shouldn’t surprise us, however.  Though Paul professes Christianity, years ago he said he does not even think homos*xuality is a sin.  He says this because he is a doctor, not because he can find support for his position in the Bible or his conscience.

Ron Paul has abandon men and women like Captain Stephen Hill when he voted against by his actions to "REPEAL" that failed called Don't Ask, Don't Tell.

Steve Williams Thursday, August 18th 2016 at 11:14PM

Check your facts Ron. Compare and contrast these two laws.

The Don't Ask, Don't Tell Repeal Act of 2010 (H.R. 2965, S. 4023) is a landmark United States federal statute enacted in December 2010 that established a process for ending the Don't ask, don't tell (DADT) policy (10 U.S.C. § 654), thus allowing gays, lesbians, and bis*xuals to serve openly in the United States Armed Forces. It ended the policy in place since 1993 that allowed them to serve only if they kept their s*xual orientation secret and the military did not learn of their s*xual orientation.

I stand corrected on your point Steven because On the Republican side of the aisle who joined the Dems was Ron Paul joined by Illinois representative Judy Biggert, Louisiana representative Joseph Cao, Hawaii representative Charles Djou, and Florida representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen in voting for the amendment.

234 AYE – 229 Democrats 5 Republicans
194 No – 26 Democrats 168 Republicans

In the House

This was a vote to approve or reject amendment H.Amdt. 672 (111th) (Patrick Murphy) to H.R. 5136 (111th). The title of the amendment is H.Amdt. 672 (Murphy) to H.R. 5136 (111th): Amendment repeals "Don't Ask Don't Tell" only after: (1) receipt of the recommendations of the Pentagon's Comprehensive Review Working Group on how to implement a repeal of DADT (due December 1, 2010) and (2) a .

And it was President Obama who finely put the nail to asking any soldier the question of there S E X U A L preference back in 12/22/2010.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Friday, August 19th 2016 at 11:42AM

But in this clip NONE of the Republican candidates said nothing at that time in support of Captain Stephen Hill. Now remember Steven Ron Paul's power was in the House and not the Senate.

Steve Williams Friday, August 19th 2016 at 1:54PM

I'm pretty sure Ron Paul was not given the opportunity to speak at the debate on this point. Neither have I been able to find any follow up interviews with him on the subject.

Steve Williams Friday, August 19th 2016 at 1:57PM

The establishment was anti-Paul in both '08 and '12.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Friday, August 19th 2016 at 3:29PM

I'm sure you won't find it neither...
